Looks like this is going to be the first Element outside North America, and definitely the first in Europe. Interesting to see how it'll be received...

Looking forward to finally trying out element, but looks like that won't happen this year - no chocolates next year either!

I'll be in Frankfurt this week. I wonder if the "2 minute.." shuttle ride from terminal 2 is walkable. Maybe I'll check out the progress from the outside.

It's walkable if your really that interested. Stayed at the Park Inn by Radisson last month and in January. So far only two hotels in the area. The Park Inn which is pretty nice and a Meininger Hotel which is evidently a budget brand. I'm unsure exactly which one of the numerous buildings under construction will actually be the Element but my guess it that it is the one directly behind the Park Inn.

Will be nice to have another Starwood option at FRA but the pricing will have to be competitive to the Park Inn to get my business away from them. Club Carlson has become my alternative hotel brand for Starwood in Germany after their loss of several hotels plus CC has some really nice properties in Germany.

Not so much interested as bored and hate FRA.

The Sheraton is nice but it's expensive and can require long walks inside the terminals. An outside walk or brief shuttle ride might not be much worse, especially if the aloft has better rates.

Unfortunately, I do not see them being much cheaper than the Sheraton.

When the HGI opened next to the Hilton, everybody was happy as well, until they saw the rates....

The Sheraton is doing a good job, same with all properties in Frankfurt, when it comes to knowing what they can change. If you are unlucky, even outside the fair periods, this could mean that they charge close to $ 300, but during slower times, their rates have dropped to high two digit rates (in Euro)

On average, I expect the Element to be 10-20% below the Sheraton with rates ranging from Euro 70 on slow weekends to the mid-high 100īs during normal weekdays.

Your comment re. the location is really worth noting. From T2, walking might be an option, if their shuttle is not up to the task and runs a big loop via T1. @:-)
