Stayed in April for 10 days. Great resort but a pool is a must IMO. We stayed in 66, by far the best villa and had to move to 69 after 5 days due to rate change and hotel was at 100%. 69 is very secluded as it is the last villa on the beach but it is next to a work area where they run saws. The hotel moved use to a tropical pool villa as they realized the noise was not something we wanted to hear so we moved to 62 which was OK nice sunset but you could see the top of the restaurant. Overall this is a great hotel and I would recommend it if in the Phuket area. We rented a car and the hotel was very accommodating on the boat transfer they provided 1 roundtrip per day because we were there for 10 days. The location is a bit out of the way by car to tourist attractions but well worth the extra 20 or 30 minutes. We did most things by water having the hotel arrange a private boat on multiple occasions for fishing and exploring the many private islands. Don't expect crystal clear water at the hotel for snorkeling you need to take a boat south to really enjoy clear blue water. I found the service to be 5 star and never had to call for anything in 10 days no issues with housekeeping or turn down. The staff was so accommodating and nice and every request was completed. One small hiccup at dinner for my wife's birthday I had ordered a cake (no charge) and they needed to be reminded after dinner.

Did you leave the rental car somewhere on the dockside on the mainland each day ?

At the mainland marina they have a parking lot. You need to call the hotel for the boat about 5 to 10 minutes before arriving so they will be ready. Driving is a bit crazy but we had a blast.

Considering a one night award stay here, no status
1st time to HKT.
Considering it based on likely need some RnR and get to take boat to "our" private island
Arrive 4:10 at airport, depart next morning at 10:40

just to confirm some info upthread
boat transfer-round trip is included in price?
we're on our own to get to dock or chose high(er) price hotel BMW

Additional transfers are 1600-RT? if we want to go to main island

Is there anything else to do on the island other than hang at the hotel?

Just not sure if a short one night stay is worthy of the extra efforts

Thanks

There is a village with a mosque but I didn't get a chance to check it out.

You land at 4:10AM or 4:10PM?

If AM it seem ok. If PM it seems a waste.

Base on your flight you have 18 hr on phuket island.
2 hrs are at least for transportation round trip + 1 hr at airport for check-in.
Now only 15 hr left.
I strongly recommend to cancel this award booking and move to another hotel.
arrive and get your package and go to aow por grand marina + at least 1 hr(airport taxi 650THB or 700THB,not sure).
SPG property in phuket that most suitable for you is westin phuket and rent a car to go everywhere you want.

Not sure I'd even rent a car since of the 15 hours left, lets assume 8 of them are for sleeping. Another 2 of them are for dinner and breakfast. Are you going to spend an hour schlepping back and forth to Katong and four hours walking around? Perhaps head to the Westin Siray Bay, enjoy the evening. Take a dip. Sunrise in the pool.

I was afraid Naka might be to aggressive with such short time
Though most any property we go to, unless it's The Renaissance or JW is going to take 30 mins+ travel time

We were not planning to rent a car, meant hire.

REN or JW locate on maikhow beach nearest to airport compare to another hotel(naka, westin, lemeridien) at same beach are sala and holiday inn resort
If not rent a car maikhow beach didn't have any attraction nearby

Short time period/short distance from airport i recommend "Holiday inn Resort maikhow beach" with redemption of IHG reward point (15,000) if price above 3000 THB

It isn't that Naka Island is too aggressive. It just seems like a bit of a waste considering how little you are going to get to enjoy the place. However, I'd say the same of any property. Unless you are going to stay in the middle of Katong or whatnot, just hit the property and relax. Naka Island is great for that of course.

Thanks all for input, In the end we opted for another property(hyatt)
We'll get to see a bit of the island on the ride down and should we like to go out and explore later in the evening won't have to make as many transfers. Perhaps we'll be back to Phuket at some point and can experience Naka(and more of Phuket)

Anyone been here in June? Since its on the eastern side of Phuket I imagine the weather will be a little better than the west coast.
