It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Lifetime Plat Life Boat Roll Call 9X Requal

Yo:

Who's in my boat? I'm 9x Plat, 10x requal in 2016.
I'm a few nights off of LTP but we need to put our heads together and figure out a plan. It's likely the the 7x and 8xers at still at the mercy of other's but I believe the 9xers still control their own destiny.

No way in SPG gets aborted mid year. No way a merged program doesn't begin at the beginning of a qualifying year.

So this thread is about the gen 9xers that have the ability to qualify for LTP before the potential demise of SPG as we know it.

We control our own destiny. Seize the day or fold your tents! Whats it gonna be?

I've booked qualifying activity in early 2016 and will meet the "Years Platinum" requirement by March 1. How I proceed after that is still a work in progress!

Bottom line, T -82 nights

-Scho

I'd say go get your Lifetime Plat. I'm at 8x and for me much more risk... I'll be 9x when changes occur. But if I was 9x, I'd grab lifetime before they devalue/convert etc.

I am a 9er too! Got a few stays planned in early 2016 but not sure about the rest of the year yet.

I agree, the earlier the better.

I'll be grabbing my 10x, but what I have book to accomplish 10x still leaves me 52 nights short.
I could be 22 nights short if I wanted to pay for breakfast & happy hour in cash for 3 weeks, and not swim in the pool at the SGS. Gotta run those numbers now.

.. me too 9 Years and 480 nights. I will hit the 10 years in late August 2016. So I am nerves if the rush anything mid-year. Anyway I will try to do it and hope that they will treat us well. In any case the problem is what will happen even if they do ? Too much guessing, lets gamble and go for it

I am at 9 years and 978 nights currently... Hope did over 100 nights a year for the past few years so figure I'll hit LTP by June or so.

Moderator Note

Please remember that this thread is for discussion of SPG LT status. Please keep all speculation about the merger, post merger status swaps, discussion of matches to other programs, etc in the appropriate threads.

Over the course of the next months or year we will lear a lot about the coming changes. We want to ensure that people who are looking for information about what currently exists can find that information. We don't want them need to sift through lots of posts that don't contain information about the current program to find what they need.

Thanks for your cooperation,

In the midst of my stay that will give me lifetime plat - the night of Tuesday, 11/24 is the one. I emailed the property beforehand with an unrelated question and mentioned that I was looking forward to crossing the milestone with them on this stay. Waiting for me when I checked in a couple days ago was the Presidential Suite, a bottle of champagne and a huge fruit basket. Very, very nice indeed!

Thanks, SPG! I will miss you when you're gone...

I'm a 9x'er as well - already over the nights just need the year, should be around mid-year.

Question - the criteria is "10 nights elite and 500 nights". Gold counts as elite, right? So say I have 7 years PLT, 3 years Gold, and 500+ nights - does that qualify?

I've seen lots of posts about '10 years PLT to qualify' and want to make sure I'm reading the criteria correctly. Thanks!

It takes 10 years at Platinum elite + 500 Elite Qualifying Nights to earn Lifetime Platinum, so 7 years at Platinum and 3 years at Gold does not qualify.

I am very close to both the 500 night and 10 year Plat requirement and wanted to check exactly when the 10 year clock ticks over.

I first attained Plat in I think June 2006 as a Status match and have been Plat ever since. For the time element do I need to wait for 10 actual years (so in this example June 2016), requalifying so that I cover 10 complete years (whenever in 2016 I hit 25 stays or 50 nights covering me though 2017), or the end of 2016?
