But the original criteria were secret!!! Hard to know what to expect if I were to do less than 100 nights in 2012

Uncertainty sets in...

no, but you wouldn't be smart to select the continental breakfast option if your hotel has a lounge that you have access to due to your rate or Plat status @:-)

"Enjoy continental breakfast, bonus Starpoints OR local amenities as your Platinum welcome gift. You and a guest staying on your reservation can start each day with juice, coffee, pastries, cereal, yogurt and more when you choose continental breakfast — along with our thanks for being one of our best members."

But no eggs, bacon, sausage, or hash browns.....
In Asia, many, if not most, Starwood properties provide full breakfast to PLT members.

Sorry. I was posting on mobile and should have thrown a few in there. I did not mean for it to come off as nasty. My apologies.

Not sure. I know i had a lot of award stays in Nov so not sure if the online chat rep picked those up or not. I do remember seeing my nights at 97 last year and deciding to bump it up to over a 100 in December just to hit triple digits for fun. Sure glad I did that now!

The Ambassador responded by giving her two free tickets for box seats for two days in a box. (Starwood was partially sponsoring the event.) The Ambassador program sounds pretty sweet to me.
I find the Ambassador program varies very widely.

I only ever ask for one thing when I stay in a hotel, and that is the firmest pillows the hotel has. I have never received this in ~10 shots on net since I got my Ambassador late last year.

She did send my wife a birthday card which was nice, but the reservation she changed that week didn't have my SPG number on file when I checked-in.

On the other hand, I once needed a ...... room at a W. I got it no issue with a half bottle of wine, chocolates, and the whole 9 yards!

YMMV, indeed.

From what it says, an ambassador helps with "Travel planning". I mean, surely there's gotta be more than just a person/group of people to call to make reservations?
Well I am not a Lurker but just a Platinum guy who had an Ambassador for 2 years as part of the beta program. I am no longer in the program but I will say that if you have the ability to have an ambassador you should go for it! You will never stay anywhere else once you have one. Travel Planning I would say more like a travel angel! They can make things happen. Think of getting a key to the city every time you check in. I don't think anyone here will tell you what they can or can't do but they carry alot of weight in the Starwood family. When they call the property on your behalf the GM is well informed of your arrival.

If you have been verified to have credited 100 or more nights in the calendar year of 2011 but have not yet received your invitation on the ambassador service, do reach out to any of the lurkers.

SLII, I have had an Ambassador for the past one year but I have never, nor will I probably ever meet the 100 night a year criteria. Does this mean that I will lose my Ambassador?
