I thought the SNAs are good until last day of the year...
Please provide an update when you hear back from SPG as I have the same situation.

Same situation here. I wonder if the SNA request would work after earning next year's SNAs or if the "about-to-expire" SNAs would block the request.

Well, perhaps you were correct! In the end, my request for an upgrade was declined and I got my SNAs returned to me. But the upgrade stuck and was upgraded ultimately twice to finally the 3-bedroom suite! Bravo!

The initially upgrade would have been to an oceanfront suite but the subsequent upgrades were done by the property and before my SNA upgrade indeed! I'm glad they Shepard me indeed. No complaints at all!

Cheers!

Congrats. It sounds like you had a fun stay in a very special suite.

Discussion: 10 Suite Nights (SNAs) for Plats with 50 nights in calendar year

First SNA experience:

- Sheraton Macau 2 night mid-week stay, confirmed 5 days out, hotel then agreed to change Exec Suite to Family Suite upon request (same rate but Family Suite is not in SNA pool).

- W HKG Fantastic Suite confirmed 5 days out for a 4 night stay.

Perhaps Macau was not necessary given mid-week and their number of suites, but I find the tool very useful as it helps secure a proper family vacation. My guess is it's a lot harder to get through in the US based on number of SNAs in circulation.

This is a first for me, not sure if anyone had a similar experience.

Booked Westin Chennai for two nights and they claim no SNA requests can be made at this property. Called platinum desk, lady I spoke to told me there are no SNAs available at the property and I need to keep checking to see something opens.

I have used SNA many times successfully and this is totally different than how SPG used to handle these before. Usually the SNAs were requested right away and cleared at some point in future.

I do not know if this a special property, I am surprised they could not even make the request.

Called the property and they say since I booked the rate through my TA, I am not eligible to request SNA. This sounds like BS to me, because this is how I make all my bookings and had no issues so far with applying SNAs.

Can any lurkers be kind enough to look into this for me? Thx in advance.

In a separate thread, I explain the same experience. I have two reservations at the same property, one has suites (and all available room types) available for sale, the other doesn't. I got the same answer. So either the property doesn't make anything available for SNA, or they load SNA availability separately from normal sale availability, even for the same room. Which means it's not a matter of just indicating which room types are used for SNAs, it's actually allocating them as a different process. Which properties seems to be lax in doing, putting the burden on the customer to continue to check to see when they get around to it.

I currently have 4 reservations in this status, I don't really feel I should be required to check 4 properties regularly to see when they get around to it. Especially as they are in high demand times/locations and earlier is better.

I have a PM in to Lurkers, and the CSR I chatted with sent a request to the property, for additional info.

Currently we do not have information that the Westin Chennai Velachery is participating in the SNA program. But we are confirming this.

William replied in the other thread (and via PM), but to keep get the data into the master SNA thread...

All three properties I inquired about have opted out of the SNA programs. I guess I had missed that it was optional participation. With my data point of 4 of 7 properties at which I'm holding reservations not having SNAs available (1 because it's a villa property, but the other 3 opting out), that's a significant hit to the value of the program, IMHO.

I may have missed it, but is there a list of participating properties out there? If yes, I'll go find it...I just don't recall seeing such a thing.

Yesterday I have contacted the hotel directly by email and something was made. I saw some emails about this stay. I think the hotel found a solution which works for me.^^^

I am at 4 sna used. 1 hotel 3 nights, other 1 night. Have 16 left and told today next stay I will not be able to use sna. Stay close to 75 nights a year atleast. I have requested sna every stay except 1. Very said Starwood has a program this bad and lets the hotels get away with this. I agree with many people on this site. Hotels are not living by the rules. I show category suites available for sale but not cleared. Like I have said before. Makes me want to go to Hilton program.

Any reasons why?
