Great idea. The option to trade SNAs for 1000 points would work for me. Instead of 10 nights of maybe, hopefully, nothing, I could get a night at a good hotel.

Frustration even trying to apply SNAs

SPG Plat customer service and Starwood CCS have both been unable to apply SNAs to a stay that was booked in GDS. First time it has happened to me, but the response is bullxxxx - "It looks like we have a system limitation in requesting for the Suite Night Awards, as the reservation was booked through a source which makes it limited access. Thus we are unable to make any type of modification to this reservation including the rights to request for Suite Night Award" If the world's largest GDS, with inside link to Starwood is a "source which makes it limited access', Starwood is playing silly buggers with me.

Lurkers - may I discuss this matter with one of you?

Boy who cried wolf

I know I'm becoming a squeaky wheel on this subject, but had another 2 SNAs rejected today. I am so desperate to use them I have applied 5 to SGS in BKK where I haven't missed out on a suite upgrade in over 60 stays. Better to waste them on a certainty than have them expire. Grrr.

They're light on suites at the moment due to renovations, so you may just have to use them there!

+1 I'll probably qualify on stays this year and up with around 45 nights. Not even worth going for 50 if I can't hit 75. I will have 15 SNAs expire.

Anyone know if SNA request go through in advance before they show up on the SPG website? Reason I'm asking is because while booking another reservation recently, the Plat concierge agent said my upcoming reservation was upgraded already and that was 10+ days before I'm due to arrive.

However, my reservations still says that the SNA are pending when I look at the reservation and this has been three days since I was told I was already upgraded.

Thanks!

Could the hotel have preassigned a nice room or suite as a free Plat upgrade? Look at your reservation details on SPG.com and see if the room type is still the same as what you booked.

Thanks! Took a look at the details! Indeed, the room type isn't what I booked. I'm in the suite according to the reservation. But get this, they still have a note in the system indication that my SNA are still pending to confirm the suite.

Oh well, it just a mater of a few more days before I'm within that 5 day window and hopefully the suite sticks and they return the SNA. Nothing wrong with being optimistic right? LOL

My SNA upgrade at the Sheraton New Orleans acme through at the 5 day window. Don't know whether it is a good use of SNAs for an Executive Suite that looks like its just a little bigger than a standard room but ending the year with unused SNAs in my account would be like dying without emptying all my bank accounts.

Lovely experience (similar to what it sounds like many others are experiencing) with the Westin Sydney. During the absolute deadest time for the hotel I can imagine -- a weekend stay in the Australian winter -- I booked a two-night stay and applied two SNAs. At T-5 days, I got the "we're trying!" e-mail, at which point there were deluxe suites available for purchase on the website. The suite upgrade request was not processed at that point, wasn't processed during the next sweep 24 hours later (when there were still deluxe suites for purchase), and wasn't processed at all through the five-day period, at the end of which point, there were no suites left on the website for purchase. What a waste.
