Well I have a stay starting 8/01 so wonder how it will work fro me.

If I check in before January 9, 2012, or check out after April 8, 2012, does my stay earn the bonus?
Yes, as long as one night of the stay is within the promotion period, double or triple bonus Starpoints will be earned on every night during the entire stay (even if part of the stay falls outside the promo window).

I put the "Nonparticipating Property List" on my "Nonstaying Property List". There are 3 nonparticipants that would normally been in consideration for my planned stays during the promo time period.

I did not get one but if one tries to register a second time you get the message

Isn't this very similar to the promo that just ended last week? I was hoping for a free night promo rather than x-times points this time around. :o

Still should be a nice earner though, given a travel heavy Q1. And glad to see a much smaller non-participating list this time around. ^

The winter promo is usually a points promo, and the free night promos are typically in spring.

That looks like a count of 144 non-participating properties out of 1,041 Starwoods as of the end of 2010.

Yes, nice to see the non-participating list is a lot less than the previous promo, but they've cut off a week on either end this year. :td:

Last year : January 3 - April 15
This year : January 9 - April 8

So we'll have a 3 week gap between promos assuming the Spring one kicks in May 1st.

Or no gap assuming the new promo starts on April 9. Since each assumption is equally likely, I'd call it a draw.
