Personally, I think you whiffed on it. This is what it says in the Guidelines:

When writing your review, please consider the following guidelines:
Focus on the hotel and your guest experience
• Provide details about why you liked or disliked your stay
• Tag your review accurately
We reserve the right not to post your review if it contains any of the following types of content or violates our Terms of Submission:
• Obscenities, discriminatory language, or other language not suitable for a public forum
• Advertisements, “spam” content, or references to other hotels, offers, or websites
• Email addresses, URLs, phone numbers, physical addresses or other forms of contact information
• Critical or spiteful comments on other reviews posted on the page or their authors

...I'm rather confused as to why my original review was never posted and why my new review (sans mentioning any other properties) is still not online...
Your original review mentioned another hotel than the one you were reviewing. The Guidelines are fairly clear that this can result in a rejection of your submission, IMHO. As far as your re-submitted review is concerned, it is in pending status awaiting moderator review and should show up in the next day or so, if not today.

Fair enough. I misread it as being advertisements or spam content that referenced other hotels, and that a simple contrast / comparison would not be considered misuse. But I see now that with the punctuation used I misread that.

Seeing as a good number of helpful reviews generally compare / contrast hotels (and for all the reasons in my post up-thread) perhaps this should be its own bullet-point instead of in the middle of something else. Or SPG reconsiders their thinking on this point.

By the way, the resubmitted review just posted.

I notice some hotels have less than 5 reviews posted (eg Westin Berlin 2 & Le Meridien Stuttgart 1) are rejected reviews included in the minimum 5?

There needs to be 5 reviews submitted and approved for publication before any reviews can be seen. Rejected reviews are not approved for publication, so they would not count towards this minimum.

Some properties publish their reviews even though they haven't received five yet. Sheraton Munich Westpark, for instance, has three reviews published.

I believe that this hotel has three reviews in English and four in German. If you change the language setting to German from English, you should be able to see them.

I Submitted a review on the Sheraton Anaheim a few weeks ago.

It has not shown up yet.

I thought I provided my email address along with the review for notification. I have not heard back... so maybe i thought I had but really didn't

It was simply a post that said this was one of the few Sheraton properties without a lounge or club level so it wasn't the best option for members expecting it or for business travelers in general.

There were a few posts at the beginning that were negative but since then only positive posts have appeared.

I would be interested in knowing why my post was rejected.

More than happy to check on this, but there are a couple of Sheraton's in/near Anaheim. Could you specify which one this is and the date you posted your review? Thanks.

William

Thanks for the reply

When i go to the review section of the hotels page on spg.com I see the following

Review date of Feb 28 After my stay
Review date of Feb 9 Before my stay
Review date of Dec 11

When I did as you suggested and sorted by "Newest" my review appears.

I tried this on a computer that had never been to this particular page and got the same view until I performed the sort by action.

Strange...

Thanks for the heads up!

Some thoughts, and a bug that needs to be sorted

Yes, I had a very slow Sunday so was just reading some reviews...

Lurkers: I don't want to get all competitive, despite being a "Top 10 Contributor" but boy, hunnyb62 does a lot of travelling! She's #1 contributor with 176 reviews, way above the average 30ish of most other Top 10 contributors. And she seems to move residences a lot as well: sometimes she lives in Illinois, sometimes in California, sometimes even in Brazil and posts reviews in portuguese! And confusingly, despite all this travelling she doesn't even have any SPG status! Could she be a bug at all? Is there any way the actual #1 contributor gets the recognition he/she deserves?

While I'm on the subject, why not incentivise people to post reviews by doing a promotion where the top 10 contributors at the end of a certain period get, say, 100,000 points?

Our apologies. We are aware of this bug in our review system and are working to rectify it as soon as possible.

Regarding your suggestions on incentives for reviewers, we always appreciate our guests' suggestions and will certainly forward your idea to our marketing team.
