Airline Rates
 

I have recently started working for a very small airline, but it does mean that I am now entitled to airline rates at hotels. Please can someone tell me on here, or via PM how I can go ahead and make airline rates, I do of course have company issued ID which I can produce at check in to ensure my eligibility.

I suspect each airline has a unique SET code. Your employer should be able to provide you with the appropriate information.

Depending upon your employer, you may not be "entitled" to any discounts since the rates are negotiated with each corporation. Discounts are company specific and also vary to each hotel.

Some hotels offer "interline" rates which are available to airline employees. You might need to call the hotel directly to ask, though.

I think that you are referring to corporate discounts.
That is not what I am looking for.
I am looking for the standard travel industry / airline employee rates...

I'm sure your HR department will have the information you need. It's nothing personal, but I surely wouldn't give out proprietary discount codes to someone I've never met and who may or may not be entitled to them.

There is a standard AIRL rate plan for airline employees. Sometime the rates are great (e.g., Element Times Square is $139 at the moment on it) and sometimes it's considerably higher than BAR.

Also check out www.id90.com , I've found good rates for Starwood properties through them in the past. You will need to register with your airline credentials.

No, I completely understand what you are asking for. As others have said, your airline/company will negotiate with particular hotels. I know that some crews stay at different hotel chains than others due to what has been negotiated by the airline.

Just as an FYI, there are two types of airline employee rates available through Starwood. One is just the standard airline employee rate and the other is for airline crew. You have to call the Customer Contact Center to check for rates and availability for these rates and you would be responsible for presenting an airline id at check-in to establish eligibility to use them.

Some Starwood properties also participate in the ID90 site as well, but not all do.

While airlines, just like other companies, often have negotiated rates with Starwood, both for staff and crew, Starwood also has an airline employee rate plan that has nothing to do with a negotiated rate with any particularly airline and that airline HR departments (particularly at a small airline) are likely to have no knowledge of. It's intended primarily for airline employee leisure travel. This is the same rate plan ID90 uses, but, for most rates, you need only be an airline employee and not an ID90 member (occasionally Starwood hotels have both ID90 and standard airline employee rates). Hilton, Intercontinental, and others have the same, and many other hotels (including Four Seasons, Raffles, and Amans) will often extend discounts to travel industry employees. Sometimes I'm asked for an ID and sometimes I'm not, so I wouldn't advise booking under one of these rates without actually having an airline ID.

May I know how to check available and book in this AIRL rate? I only find a link that can be used to book US and Canada hotels.

Yes. I called Starwood reservations and got the SET rate for my airline. Not sure if it's for crew or any airline employee. So far, other rates have been better.

The SET rate is most likely used for business-related travel done by executives.

Airline crew rates are usually booked by the airline for their crew. These are not eligible for earning Starpoints and stay/night credit. The airline employee rate would be something relative to 50% off, when available. It does earn Starpoints and stay/night credit. Also, be aware that the ID90 rate does not earn Starpoints or stay/night credit.
