The Elite Thank You program ended on December 31, 2017. You have until June 30, 2018, to award your Thank You certificates to SPG associates.

A great way to say thanks -

You expect and deserve outstanding service from SPG®. So when an associate goes above and beyond to make your stay, it’s nice to have a special way to express your thanks.

That’s what Elite Thank You certificates are all about. Print yours now to make the day of every deserving SPG associate who receives one.

Remember: All SPG associates and customer care agents are eligible to receive Elite Thank You certificates. Enjoy giving them — and we’ll keep looking for ways to earn them.

From T&C :"however, the certificates cannot be used as a form of bribery or fraud, nor may the certificates be sold in any manner"

Wish I knew what it's really worth.
I don't see these as being an alternative to tipping. This would be an addition to a tip if you received truly exceptional service.

Were I to give one it would be in addition to a tip.

Yes they must be because a couple of us have already said that employees gave them to us.

When I was the 1K member of United, I used to receive similar certificates every year.
I gave them away to flight attendants/check in agents, and all were smiling when they received.
I did not know what they could get from those certificates.

I want to have "no-thank" certificates, too, especially on United.

- It is always nice to see that SPG is following AA steps like with these certificates. I only wish SPG would also institute "unpublished" benefits like lifetime GLD for 1 million SPG points and PLT after 2 million.
On the other hand, why only 4 certificates to PLT members? Does it mean that we should have such low expectations for the Platinum service - like 1 out of 6 stays? (25 stays are required for PLT re-qualifying).
Finally, there is a custom to tip hotel staff but not the FA's. Does this mean that the tips are now replaced with the certificates !?

...and here I thought Starwood was actually giving us a thank you gift for re-qualifying for the top-tier of their loyalty program. Obviously that's a crazy idea... I really thought they'd bring back the (well-deserved) one-time, 50% off, starpoint redemption to plat members...guess not. Go figure that Starwood's idea of a plat 'benefit' is that we can give thank you cards to their employees, while other members can't.

I guess Starwood now thinks their employees are on par with United's & US Airways? Ouch...not a good sign!!

LOL....
maybe next year they'll stop the double points for PLAT's and load us with extra thank you cards...I can't wait.....
If SPG did not have my favorite hotels on earth in their chain, this would not keep me coming back.

I have not received the package, but when I do, I think Lurkers would defintely get my vote. ^ Now how do I give them the card?

I don't think any of the SL's will comment on this question but if I had to hazard a guess, I'm sure its worth points. Probably 500 points or a 1,000 points.

UA started the "Going the Extra Mile" program a while ago, and I believe employees who turned in a certain number of certificates will recieve a lapel pin that they can wear at wear. In addition, certain stations would have a periodic drawing for gift cards and other prizes. Althought, recently the cut down the number of certificates given to elites from 5 to 3. They cynics in me says that there are less good employees to thank , but in reality you can ask for more.

The FAQ says you can ask for more certificates from platinum concierge.

No. The certificate is for something above-and-beyond. For countries where tipping is customary, well, it's customary to tip with cash, not just a goodwill certificate.
