Hi whenzuc,
This is dependent on the revenue team at individual properties.
Starwood Friends rate is an ineligible rate. You may not get upgraded or enjoy any other Gold benefits.

If I have a Starfriend rate for a month from now (12/28-1/1), but the employee will be resigning before then, will that be an issue? I already have the authorization form, but was not sure if I'd have to rebook without it. Thank you!

As long as you have the authorization form with you at check-in, your reservation will be fine - regardless if your friend is still with Starwood when you stay.
Enjoy your stay!

I think L Ron is disqualified due to being dead. I don't room with dead people.
David Bowie would be an interesting roommate, but I wonder if he could tolerate snoring from both myself and the wife.

Starfriend rates at Marriott properties?
Any idea if and when Starwood employees would be able to get Friends and Family rates for their family at Marriott properties (i.e. MMF rates)?

It's just a guess, but my 2 cents are when the 2 programs merge. Yes it's one corporation now but it might be easier to do it when the 2 programs are merged. Having said that, if you have a SPG employee family/friend, ask him/her to let you know when they can use the rate at the Marriott properties
BTW - this is just general information for those wondering about the Friends & Family rate on the Marriott side (see below):
* If someone is using the family member/friend they'll need to get a written authorization form (which is now transmitted via email) from the employee & the person who booked that rate WILL be asked for the signed form at check-in.
* The form is normally good for 60 days after it's been issued, so can be used for more than one stay (which also means don't ask for it until shortly before your stays so it doesn't expire before your trips)
* There isn't a restriction in terms of length of stay to my knowledge.
* Stays using the family/friend rate will not earn points or night credit.
* Someone using the rate will receive elite recognition bennies (ie, free i-net, upgrades, exec lounge access) even on family/friend stays if they're an elite.
Cheers.

I'm hearing that Starwood employees are to have access to Marriott's employee rates within the next few weeks, so hopefully the friends and family rate will be available soon.

Any idea if the "lounge access" benefit that comes with the SPG AMEX card can be used on these Starfriend rates?
