Totally agree. Though in the case of the W, you can remedy this by walking or taking a golf cart to the main entrance, and turning in either direction. Welcome to Bali! St Regis has same design issue (stunning, but nothing Balinese) except you are several minutes of taxi time away fom anything even remotely Balinese. We will be back in 2013, sort of doubtful we'll try Kuta or LM Jimbaran, but happy to split time between outskirts of Ubud, Candia Dasa, and maybe a few days at the W to ease back into Western lifestyle.

Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort opening 1 Dec 2012, Category 4

Opening date: 1 December 2012

Category: 4

Total number of rooms: 203 guest rooms and suites, including a two-story Oceanic view Presidential Suite.

Location

The resort is part of the Beachwalk which is poised to be the new downtown of Kuta, presenting the very best in quality and luxurious retail hub, but still only steps away from the renowned sunset spot and bustling nightlife of Kuta. The elevated position of the resort is set that guests will always have a clear skyline of Kuta, every room and suites features a balcony with a unobstructed view of the ocean.

Do you know?

  • Every room and suite at the resort will feature a private balcony that will either have an Ocean front or an Ocean facing view.
  • Only hotel with uninterrupted sunset view due to its elevated position
  • Largest number of interconnecting rooms for families
  • The eco-friendly, low-rise design of the resort is characterized by a traditional alang-alang thatched roof, recycled hardwoods, and an open-air walkway, which is cooled by natural sea breezes thereby reducing the need for air-conditioning.

Food and Beverage Outlets

Feast
  • offers an outdoor Patio along Beachwalk

Bene
  • features traditional Italian meal with a modern twist
  • oceanfront trattoria by the poolside with a breathtaking upper-terrace view

Transportation options

Note: Estimated charges, fees and schedules are not guaranteed by hotel. Travel distance may be affected by local conditions and traffic.

Bali International Airport
Distance: 5 KM

Taxi
  • Metered taxis are common in South Bali and Denpasar (but not Ubud). They are essential for getting around Kuta and Seminyak, where you can easily flag one down.
  • The usual rate for a taxi is 5000Rp flag fall and 4000Rp per kilometre, but the rate is higher in the evening. If you phone for a taxi, the minimum charge is 10,000Rp. Any driver that claims meter problems or who won’t use it should be avoided.

Limo
  • The resort provides VIP limo pick-up service from and to the airport, as well as chartered transport for half or full day. For more information on the rate, please contact the hotel.

Places of interests

• Beachwalk, an exclusive, contemporary retail and lifestyle hub located at the very heart and soul of Kuta featuring over 200 retail shops.
• Kuta Theater brings up a Balinese Theater Show in a clever fun and educational way. The play "Lights of Faith" tell us more about the old traditional friendship crushed in modern culture. There are at least six story morals in the one-hour performance.

• 2 nights minimum stay required
• USD 225++ per room per night (subject to 21% tax and service charge)

Thyetus,

Thanks for the update. People can say what they want about Kuta, but I'm happy to see an SPG option not in Nusa Dua, and less than Category 6.

A check of their internal data says:

# of lounges: 0

So, I'm guessing not.

Is there a reason why SNA can't be applied to a reservation in this property?

Wasn't that supposed to be a Sheraton brand standard?

It has never been a Sheraton brand standard for Sheraton resorts. I doubt that it ever will be, but that is for others to decide.
