I had a great stay here as well.

Suite upgrade (though on SPG floor, not Towers)
Loved the lounge access (better tequila than Scotch, great cheese)
Loved the beach
Loved the staff

I just had the best stay at this hotel. My suite had incredible views of the city, the beach, and of Jaffa in the distance.

The lounge is simply terrific. And it's not "light snacks" that they offer in the evenings, but an entire buffet of hot and cold salads, plus chicken kebabs and a rice dish. And that entire open bar. Whew!

I'm a Plat, by the way, but I don't recall getting this type of service at most other properties.

The more I read about this property the more I'd like to stay here. But it is only 45 mins away.

Yes. Yes I have.

I am using 80K for 2 5 night rooms . . . at least I have a few new SPG cards to take the sting out. Too bad breakfast and internet are extra, anybody have tips on how to sweet talk the staff (besides showing them Platinum SPG ).

Are you sure about having chicken in the lounge? I spent over 45 consecutive days there recently, and can only recall fish or pasta being served along with the side dishes, salads, etc.

I believe they don't serve meat in the lounge since they offer dairy, and need to abide by Kosher rules.

Same here. Have had many many stays at this property over the years and can confirm that there is only dairy served in the lounge.

A recent stay here as well, no upgrade and staying on points.

-Welcome basket of fruit in the room.
-No real interaction with staff (no Lounge).
-On 14th floor, room is dated but in good shape, SO liked the decor, I thought it was 20 years old. (The AC controls were ancient.)

Thus if you do not have status and lounge access the hotel is not as impressive as the last few PLAT posters have indicated. I am still pleased with the 3 cents per points and once the renovations work their way to this level, it will be an even better value on points.

I have five nights on points reserved in May. Tried to use double points to upgrade to a suite but was told it was not available. Does anyone know if it is EVER available and if I should keep on trying?

Also - do I understand that there is a lounge but Platinums are not comped lounge access?

Don't know about using points for a suite. However, as a Platinum I have been upgraded to a suite (but not every time).

as TravelOnMyMind stated, there is lounge access to platinum even if you are not on a club or tower level. And +1 for both lounges being terrific and the outstanding staff .

You've got PM.

I wrote a thank you letter to the GM and his supervisors following recent stays. Excellent property & PLT treatment
