This thread initiated a call by me to Rita at the Platinum Concierge line. I have been leaving messages and emails and faxes with the Toronto Centre Sheraton for the past 6 months about a folio that I needed a copy of. I have had absolutely no response from the hotel.

With me on hold, Rita contacted the hotel, and was assured that a copy of the folio would be emailed to me shortly, with her cc'd on the email.

Within ten minutes I have a copy of the missing folio, great job Platinum Concierge, you have accomplished something I have been unable to do myself for 6 months!

The Westin Seattle automatically emails me my folio now. I had cause to ask them a few times as I'm good at losing stuff like that and I suggested that they provided it automatically. The lady in AP said she thought it was a good idea and would find out if their system could do that.

A couple of weeks later she emailed me back to say that I would recieve automatic emails and I have received them since.

So it is obviously possible, I wonder if they offer this to everyone now or just have flagged my account.

It would be great if this was done at the system level by Starwood.

The only problem with that idea is that there is currently no central collection point for every hotel folio that gets made. Only the individual properties have access to their own folios, so they are responsible for their distribution after the fact.

However, we are making technological advances every day, so it might be possible some day for hotels to upload a folio to your SPG account. We will just have to see, and since it won't be done by tomorrow, in the short-term, we have what we have.

I totally understand as I work in software development. But considering Starwood properties in the US seem to use a common system that feeds into a larger inventory management system I can't see any technical limitation, but it is as always dependant on the level of investment available.

I would suggest that anyone that wants to see this feature added makes contact with Starwood and let them know. The more requests they get the easier it is to justify the feature.

Perhaps my assumption of your systems are incorrect. It isn't going to stop me voicing my desire for this feature to Starwood though!

That is part of the problem. Not every hotel in the U. S. does use the same proprietary system. If they did, then I could see that this might be a more imminent reality. Most do, but the problem is even more difficult from an international standpoint. We are already accused of being too U. S.-centric. I can't imagine it would help our image much to make this available for all U. S. properties, but then go tell our international guests to go pound sand.

While I'm not that intimately aware of what our current technological capabilities are, I don't see this as much of a leap in investment at the corporate level, but there certainly is one for any property not using Galaxy Lightspeed. In this economy, it is probably more important for these hotels to keep the lights on rather than to take on an investment of that magnitude. And, I think it is going to take most, if not every hotel being on Galaxy Lightspeed in order for something like this to take hold at a 100% level.

No worries. I think it is a worthy desire. I'm pretty sure there are other folks at Starwood that feel the same. However, I have no idea if the new technologies we recently rolled out are going to support this idea or not.

This is just my two cents looking at it from a non-technical and mostly ill-informed standpoint, so we will have to just wait and see what comes next.

I know one of Starwood's competitors offers this.

Ah this is annoying. I'm a marriott guy usually, but i'm starting to stay more at SPG properties. i have a 3 page bill that I would LOVE to have received an e-mail folio of. Instead, I have to scan these three pages, stitch the PDFs together, etc - for our expense approval department. bleh.

there are a lot of properties that can email you an electronic copy of your folio, but you need to call up the hotel itself to request one, or i guess you can ask when checking out (it never occurred to me to ask at check-out , but will try next time)... it comes in pdf format

Ask for the e-folio at check out as most, not all, Starwood properties have the capability to email this to you.

If your expense approval department requires PDF versions of expenses, then your company should invest in a scanner/copier that places multiple pages in one PDF instead of you having to "stitch the PDFs together".

You can ask at check-in also.

Ziiiiiinnngggg!

Agreed with myperks and controller1.

in addition, FYI, here is a thread of properties that provide and efolio
FAQ: Which Starwood Properties Provide Post Stay efolio [Master Thread]

In addition, one of the lurkers has stated this is being looked into as a post stay event, but no definite plans have been made.
