...even if it doesnt show up via email or on your future stays, it will be on the system when you arrive. I had this happen twice at PH and I called the hotel directly to have it added. No problem when i arrived, it was on the system and was already upgraded.

Great Promotion, Please Don't get me wrong. But for some reason with this promo in particular, I feel like SPG is in your face about "forwarding it to your friends and colleagues who travel — they'll appreciate adding to their own Starpoints balance each night."

Then there's a spot for referring 5 friends or coworkers on the page immediately after registering, & in case you skip that one the biggest focus of the registration email is "You're set to earn Starpoints every night. Now tell your friends."

& seeing how I felt obligated to send it to a few close friends who are exactly the Flyertalking type, I was then the most amused at the little confirmation that comes up after you "Tell a Friend". It says, "Thank you. Your SPG® Night After Night referrals have been sent."

I guess I'm just sort of bitter because over at Marriott, one can very easily earn 25,000 Points Annually for doing exactly the same feat; typing 5 of your friends email addresses into a little form online. Starwood never seems to offer any sort of referral bonuses to get people to sign up & stay at their properties like Marriott does.

Now hold on a minute, I can already sense the barrage of comments coming at this post like "no one forced you to refer this promo to your friends" or "Starwood doesn't have to stoop to the lows of Marriott & offer thousands of points just to get you to tell some friends about a new hotel promo" & when it boils down to it, I shouldn't feel entitled to earning points for doing something I would have done anyway for a "true" friend.

So although I do wish that Starwood offered Starpoints for referring friends to sign up with SPG &/or for letting them know about promos like this one, I can understand why they don't & the way I look at it, I'm just happy that Marriott still does...

Sorry for the rant & Thanks for the Promotion!

Email just arrived and neither link in the email worked for me ... seems like no one else is having a problem, so I'll keep trying.

EDIT - I think the site was just busy, I'm registered

I beg to differ on this being a good promotion.

I think it's a pretty darn poor one, near embarrassingly so. I may even skip registering for it as a protest.

Starwood's fourth quarter promo and this one push the envelope in terms of anything worthwhile.

It's an OK --at best OK--if you are going to stay 10 nights or close to 10 nights anyway, but otherwise nearly worthless if you are going to stay less.

The 500 points a stay compare to recent promos that offered 800 or more per stay. The 10,000 points for 10 stays that compare to promos that offered points after 2 or 4 stays.

It just doesn't compare with rivals offerings.

It's also totally illogical to require 10 stays for a benefit in an economy where travel is being cut back. Who the heck put this promo together and what sand was his head in.

Please don't. I am afraid they may not be able to handle your personal protest.

i suspect they track the number of people who register and compare the popularity of various promos.

That's actually nights, not stays.

It's not a great deal, but it's better than nothing. It also has the advantage of appealing to everyone (bonus with every night on the low end - double bonus for those staying multiples of 10 nights).

I have one paid single-night SPG stay scheduled, so I'll gladly take an extra 500 points. I have several other trips planned between now and 4/30, but this promo (probably) won't make enough of a difference for me to choose Starwood for any of those trips.

66 * 121$ Nightly Rate = approx 8000$

Bonus Points From Promotion: 65500
Base Points: 16000
Double Starpoints Promotion at my Hotel: 16000
Platinum 50% Bonus: 8000
Starwood AMEX 2X Points: 16000

This is sweet ... I love Starwood

Unfortunately it will take me 9 more stays this Year to maintain my Platinum Status and hopefully I will have achieved that by June/July.

A promotion right for the times

This is a sensible promotion that rewards brand loyalty and is right for the economic times we are in.
I have booked 17 nights already and another 3 will be no problem. Now to plan another 10 nights before April 30
mmmmmm easy....I can cancel 3 MO stays and transfer them to Starwood!

Yes, please let us know which hotel and the promo number for this. N2T just expired that was giving me double in ABQ Uptown (but for some reason none of these posted ).

First -- it's 10 nights not stays. But that's already been covered.

Second - I think it made total sense to structure the promo this way.

1) People who are having travel cut back are at least getting something for their loyalty.

2) The promotion encourages individuals who have travel discretion to book a few more nights that maybe they would have spent elsewhere (or not at all) in order to get an additional 5000 points on their 10th night.

Remember the sole purpose of any promotion (or the entire loyalty program for that matter) is to generate additional revenue that might otherwise not be realized. When a promotion (or loyalty program) stops providing incremental revenue, you can be sure it will go away. This is capitalism not socialism. No starpoint breadlines here...

Just my 2 cents...

This is the Sheraton in Baltimore.
The company I work for as a Consultant has a special negotiated rate with this hotel + full breakfast + double starwood points - all for 35% less then the lowest available rate from this hotel.
There is no promo code.
Booking under my company rate gives me double starwood points.

I'm fairly new to SPG, but I thought you would have renewed your Plat status after your 50th night?

It's a frequent traveler loyalty program. If you're not staying 10 nights in a 3 month period you are hardly a frequent traveler and therefore not a target of the promo.
