Does anyone know if there is anything that will lead to the revival of the Manchester project?

It will require the developers of the site to continue with the development of the site. It was shelved due to the economy / lack of funds.

I got that same email, the hotel looks really nice. I can't wait to go stay there when it opens!

Regarding the email I mentioned above with an opening promo......

I put in the same dates without the opening promo code, and it came in at about £140 less per night!

Without the promo it was £299 plus tax (£351.33); £419 plus tax (£492.33).....and that gives you double/triple/or up to 3,000 starpoints.

It also says the opening date is 1st October......which really isn't the summer.

Perhaps that's why they now say "Fall 2010" on their site. (Too bad they haven't updated spg.com...)

W London opening delayed?

Planning a weekend getaway with the wife to the W London in late November. Website says taking reservations from October 1. I successfully booked three nights at the W London for late November last week.

Just tried to add a day on the front end of our trip at the W and res system (and phone agents) said it was fully booked. Strangely, all nights in October and Novermber now appear booked, though December is fairly open.

Though the phone agents say there is no delay in opening the hotel, has anyone else heard differently? This would be a major inconvenience, as we bought plane tickets after booking this, and the other London SPG properties don't appear to be in the same league as this one.

This hotel will not open before Q1, possibly early Q2 2011. Simply the construction and opening programme given to starwoods was way too tight and the project has also slipped very badly..

If so, there go my plans to use Free Weekend Nights here in the late fall.

I didn't refine my search to the first date bookable, but I didn't find it in November, and my search did bring up rates in December.

Last I heard they were trying to open by the end of the summer but were only accepting reservations from October to be on the safe side.

Anyway, they have an e-mail contact now. You can write and get your answer directly from the hotel sales team and let us know

Cxlondon, where did you get this info? Does not sound good and will definitely screw up a vacation I took a lot of time planning (including nailing down flight upgrades, etc).

I emailed the hotel and will let the group know what I hear.

If this is true, this will be the second W delay to impact my preplanned vacations, the first was the W Vieques, which took their own sweet time in letting me know they weren't opening on time

Checked out the property location last weekend. From what I could tell, the building's an empty shell. Probably worse, as the exterior wasn't even finished. I doubt the property will open this year. I had high hopes for the property, but the location is just not for me.

What is wrong with the location?

Nothing - it's a perfect location in Leicester Square. However, if you're wanting to avoid the tourists, crowds, and noise, it's not for me/you. Having been to London at least 6 times, I prefer a more sedate location. That, or I'm just getting old
