Can anyone clarify for me? Is the 2500 points upgrade to the towers guaranteed (can you do it in advance?), or can you only do it upon availability at checkin.
Also, can you upgrade for 2500 points when booked on a C+P, Points or free night redemption?
For the regular plat lounge, from the reading I have done, I understand you are in a shoe box, and get complimentary continental breakfast (toast, fruit?), and in the evening you only get free drinks (no food?)
In the towers lounge, you recieve hot breakfast, and in the evening, free drinks and appy's?
Thanks so much
The lounge was open and I did get breakfast there a couple weeks ago.

Correct on the Towers, although the breakfast is actually in the restaurant upstairs, not in the lounge proper. Choice of hot dishes from the menu, plus an extensive cold buffet (fruit, pastries, meat, cheese, etc.)
Based on my stay (in May), there is food (and alcoholic beverages) in the plat lounge in the evening, as I checked it out one night out of curiosity. The food was basically a subset of what was available in the Towers lounge -- the selection not quite as good, but still perfectly adequate. Not sure about breakfast in the plat lounge.

It's been a while since I've stayed there since as of late I've been at the W HKG where I have a better rate. Anyhow the continental breakast was in the Cafe on 2/F. The lounge on 9/F used to have 1 hot item, drinks and packaged peanuts.

I stayed there a few days ago.
There were at least 3 hot items in the Plat lounge , along with finger sandwiches and quite a few other items.
The lounge does feel claustrophobic, but the food and beverage spreads are more than adequate , IMHO.

Can anyone confirm how to upgrade to the Towers for 2500 points? I talked to Platinum concierge and she had never heard of it. Put me on a lengthy hold, came back and said her supervisor had never heard of it either.

This is done in advance of check-in by booking an SPG5 Specialty Select (SPG5SS) award. There is a Towers level room attached to that award. It is 2,750 Starpoints (not 2,500) in addition to however many Starpoints the hotel is asking for a standard Preferred (free) Night Award, but the room type attached to SPG5SS has to be available. Note: These are not like the standard Preferred (free) Night Awards, which are not subject to black out dates or capacity controls.
So, you can't just take 2,750 Starpoints in addition to a paid rate unless the room type happens to be available five days before arrival. If not, you can still try at check-in using an Instant Upgrade Award, but again, the towers room type has to be available.

I should have mentions I am on a C+P redemption. Can I still upgrade (subject to availability) if I call in with the code you provided me, or is C+P not eligible until 5 days before checkin?

Thanks again
C&P won't be eligible for consideration until you check in and ask if you can upgrade to a Towers room as an Instant Award. You have to pay RACK, COR, BAR, or SET to get it done 5 days in advance.

This hotel is located on the Kowloon side of HK. This is the grittier side, while HK Island is much prettier.
I'm not sure of the location of the other SPG properties.
Adjacent to the Sheraton is the ICH, with the same water views of HK.
The Conrad and Marriott are on the HK island side, with views of Kowloon.
Trains (MTR) and ferries take you everywhere... on the cheap.
