Can I used the hotel gym as a Plat if I'm not staying at the hotel

Couldn't seem to find the answer with the search function.

Can I use the hotel gym as a Plat even if I'm not staying at the hotel?

Cheers,

ACN

No, that would not be a Platinum member benefit. This is an in-hotel benefit, which means you have to be a registered guest at the property to take advantage of it.

However, as Theytus indicates, there may be a property amenable to making an exception for you if they were given the opportunity to know the circumstances.

Had to copy and paste this as I couldn't directly quote but essentially William, our Starwood Lurker says no... YMMV

Pre-paid rate eligibility?

Consider this a belt-and-suspenders kind of question: Is a fully prepaid Internet rate booked on SPG.com considered an Eligible Rate in terms of earning Eligible Nights and Eligible Stays?

I assume it is. The T&Cs only exclude by name prepaid rates to third parties or a list of other prepaid "channels" (e.g., discount reservation Web sites).

The Rate Plan Description in the confirmation email only states, "Rate Reflects 25% Discount. Fully prepaid. Non-refundable."

Since I just cancelled a lower rate at a nearby non-Starwood hotel to pay the higher non-refundable rate at a Starwood hotel (to help me get enough nights to requal for Platinum for '09), I hope my assumption that a prepaid Internet rate on SPG.com is an Eligible Rate is correct.

It will absolutely count as an eligible stay and night. Anything booked through SPG.com with the exception of award nights are considered to be eligible. Congrats on requalifying!

Gold for GERMAN AMEX Centurion partnercard

I posted this in the AMEX forum but had no responses so far. Is the SPG Gold status only offered for the main card holder or also for the supplementary partner Centurion card? I thought that it would be available to every Centurion card holder?

May this be different in Germany because AMEX in Germany tells me it only applies to main card holder even though I thought the partner card has exactly the same benefits as the main card.

Hi Sydfly,

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Every Cardmember on the Centurion account would have access to the Gold status benefit, including the main CM and any supplementary CMs.

Hope this helps. Thyetus.

After reading through the above passages on posting of night credits, I have a question about end-of-promotion night credit. A night 9pm-7am spans two calendar days!

The current nights after nights promo ends April 30. I have a stay checking-in on Apr 30 and checking out on May 1. This will be my 20th night for the promo, and I do not want to miss this one night credit. Plat concierage told me checking-in on Apr 30 will qualify for one night credit during the promo. Is this correct?

Only the night of April 30 will be eligible to qualify for the promo.

If I qualify for Platinum from now until Dec 31st, will I have Plat until 01/01/11? Does the 50 nights run as a 12 month rolling period, or as a calendar year?

You will be Platinum until 28/02/2011 if you obtain Platinum status between now and December 31st this year.

Do paid stays at SVO (Westin Maui Villa to be exact) qualify for elite stay/night credit?

Dearest seawolf,

Some SVO properties have limited participation with the SPG program. This means some of the benefits in which members of the SPG program are entitled to, may not apply.

My advice would be to check with the property you are planning to stay at or visit www.starwoodvo.com for more details.

I made PLT for the first time in December. My card said expiration of 2/2010? Now as I lay here in the W at Scottsdale, I have my 25 stays. So now when does my status expire??
