What the Four Points has going for it is free parking and free wi-fi. Otherwise it's a fairly depressing old property, recently renovated with new soft goods but bathrooms are small, and most king bed rooms overlook the freeway. As other have mentioned, there is nothing within walking distance so you'll need a car for dining outside the hotel restaurant.
Good news is the hotel is well soundproofed and staff is friendly, but if not for a 2000 point BRG bonus I wouldn't be staying here.
Anyone know what hotel this was before it was converted to a Four Points?
I stayed at the Four Points when I missed my flight connection at ORD due to a freak thunderstorm. The shuttle service was efficient (one leaving every 30 min, I think), but the hotel itself was dark and depressing and I could barely bring myself to sleep in the room. The sandwich ordered from the Room service menu was godawful.
There's an awesome suite at the Four Points that you could try to finagle yourself into. I've always had pretty decent luck there. I found the bar to have good food too!
When staying in the ORD area, I've been spending my time between the Sheraton Suites and the Aloft. The Aloft is nice... free wifi. I can't speak to the shuttle though.
Haven't stayed at aloft, but I really do like the Sheraton Suites - bigger room; it works for me. For an overnight stay though I would just go for whatever the least expensive is.
Since no one else said it, I really like the Westin O'hare. Good shuttle service, nice rooms and great people. ive stayed there a few times and always foudn it to be a great priced Westin and a nice property.
Here is what I would suggest (purely my opinions - in order):
1. Pick the cheapest - try the AAA rate.
2. Aloft - just because they are cool
3. Westin because it is the best and closest
4. Shreaton Suites - bar is pretty decent.
5. Four Points.
Try the AAA rate even if you don't have the AAA card. They never ask for it when you check-in.
