Stay Report; Sheraton Towers Abu Dhabi
Greetings:
Five night award stay, June 2006
Location :B = 20 miles from airport (Hotel car, 30min 20USD) On the sea.Edge of city.
Parking: C= valet for a fee (Did not use)
Check in : A = Desk saw Plat .card, escorted to club floor, folder all set, given 500 point award card (I was on an award) informed about resort, club, etc. Could not have been better.
Room: B = Club floor, seaview, good size, internet for fee (But, had free internet outside club floor desk)
Restaurants: B = Have four, all were good, service and food
Beach B
Pool C+ (Two,one for the little ones)
Club: A = Excellent club, free drinks, two hot items, many other cold ones,
breakfast was hot items and cont. spread. Service was excellent. We compare clubs to BKK and this was just as good.
Overall A = Would return for sure.
Notes: Free internet for Plats. (Or perhaps any one on club floor?)
Well run hotel, excellent service in all areas, everyone used our name no matter where we were. We did not find any place to eat outside the hotel, but, did not look hard. we enjoyed our stay, was a R&R type stay.
Good Luck....enjoy....

I stayed there three months ago. Didn't notice a refurb. I thought it was a decent, albeit rather impresonal business hotel. I find the design of the entrance to be a bit strange. The food options at the hotel were not inspiring. At this time of year you should be able to get cheap rates, since it is the middle of summer.

I agree with cbellero. It's a decent hotel in a good location with poor food, and no club lounge. Although I stayed there many times last summer and fall and found the rates considerably lower than the other Sheratons or similar properties in Abu Dhabi -- therefore a good value.
Also, as a Platinum, they gave me on multiple occasions a huge corner suite with sitting area, full kitchen with a washing machine, etc. I wouldn't call it lavish, but the furniture and artwork were very nice.

I have been looking at this hotel as it appears to be one where we can redeem our Free Resort Nights. It's been a long time since anyone reported on it. How is it? Is it in need of refurbishing, or is it fresh? Early posts said there was a lounge; a later one said not. Does it currently have a lounge? How are the offerings in it? What kind of upgrade might a plat get? Do the rooms have good water views?
How difficult is it to get to it by car?

This was one of the first hotels to open in Abu Dhabi. Not sure when they had the last renovation, but not over the last 3-4 years.
Lot's on good restaurants at the hotel - Texmex, Italian, tapas, seafood...
Not so difficult to get to by car, but with the ongoing construction on Salam st it makes it a bit more tricky...

It is an older property but the service was good. The GM is German, many of the management members are German, and even the front desk had a German lady working.
You can have the breakfast at the main restaurant. The buffet is very good.
The lounge has sandwiches, fruits, donuts, nuts, chips, cheeses etc. available all day long. The happy hour in the lounge is from 6PM to 7PM but you can drink from 6PM to 8PM in one of the restaurants as well.
Here are two videos that I shot; suite 318 http://bit.ly/sheauhste318 and ste 547 http://bit.ly/sheauhste547.

Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort, UAE, -Review of My Stays
Here's the write up. You can find the photos (80) and videos that I shot about the suites at http://bit.ly/sheauh.
The Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort is conveniently located in the front of the Abu Dhabi corniche relatively close to the tourist club area and to the old downtown. I stayed there three or four times between October and December last year.
They had a road construction going in front of the hotel during my stays, but I think that it must have been completed by now. It was bit difficult to get in a taxi because they had to make quite a few turns before finding the right driveway to the hotel’s entrance.
There is a club lounge, but you need to check in at the front desk even if you are a club level or SPG Platinum member. In all occasions, I hadn’t been upgraded to a suite in advance. Few words with the front desk, and at least once a phone call or two, made the suite happen in all of my stays.
Accommodations
The suite that I had was different every time but the basic layout was about the same. Please note that the two videos are from different suites as are the photos that I took. You can get a very good idea and feel about the suites that Platinum members can expect to get there.
All of the suites had a spacious living room, kitchenette with a full refrigerator, and a bedroom with a bathroom/shower. I did appreciate the fact that the furniture was in the Middle Eastern style.
Club Lounge
Is not open for breakfast as the breakfast is offered for Club members at the main restaurant. There are sandwiches, fruits, breads, cheeses etc. available all day long with coffee/tea and soft drinks. They have complimentary alcoholic beverages at the lounge from 6PM to 7PM. You can also have the club drinks benefits at the bar from 6PM to 8PM.
Gym
Was definitely one of the better hotel ones. Apparently they are selling memberships there as well. Remember to bring your own headphones if you prefer watching TV while doing cardio. They don’t have complimentary ones available.
Pool & Beach
This is one of the few hotels in Abu Dhabi that has their own private beach. There is quite a bit of construction going on the other side that bothers a bit. You have plenty of sun chairs available. They have one bigger pool that has a pool bar and smaller one for kids.
Breakfast
As a Platinum member with a club access, I could have the breakfast at the main restaurant. The breakfast options are extensive. You need to sign the bill but it will be taken care off before your departure. At least I never saw my breakfast charges on the final bills.
Conclusion
Overall, I have been very satisfied with my stays there as a Platinum member. Unlike quite a few hotels in the Middle East, where employees just come and go, the people here seemed to care. There are quite a few Germans working at the management positions that probably partly explain why the hotel seems to be well run.

Staying here right now for two nights with my family.
The good
I got a price of just above $100/night for one room
I think this is a great value since this is considered a resort. It does have a beach, kids pool, swim up bar, kids slide, kids play ground.
The bad
I noticed when I booked online it gave me a warning that sea views were partially obstructed. The reason is two high rises, I think condos, are going up right in front of the hotel which block most of the sea views. This didn't bother me as much as the sound of construction. Since it is summer in the middle east a lot of construction happens when the sun sets. It is 20:30 and I can here the occasional sounds of construction. I haven't noticed how late into the night it goes as I'm out by 21:00. Looks like there still about another six months to go before the outside construction is done.
There still is road construction going on in front of the hotel but it seemed that taxi where constantly driving through the drive of the hotel looking for passengers
Even with the construction I happy with my stay. I probably wouldn't got a, great rate if it wasn't for the construction. But I can't see the rates going up that much because those two high rises take away for the hotel. The beach is still only accessed by the hotel but the rises look directly down on the beach and the cove its now shared by the high rises.
If you have an upcoming stay you my request a room reaching the city if you are worried about the sound of the construction. But it hasn't kept me up yet.
