Are we certain that Audience Rewards works to extend Starpoints?
No activity other than AR since a Cash & Points stay last August.
Just received credit card offer e-mail titled "Your Starpoints Are About to Expire -- Save Them Today" with a footnote: "2. Starpoints never expire as long as you have Starpoints activity at least once every 12 months. Starpoints earned through Starwood Vacation Ownership are excluded."
(Not a very nice approach to marketing a credit card if the activity counts is it?)
Anyways, has it been confirmed that Audience Rewards really works by someone with no other activity in more than a year?

Thanks.
It did not extend mine.. I tried back in March or so. No dice. Mine expire next month, so I suppose I will have to book a stay somewhere. There is a four points somewhat nearby, but restaurant and bartender were clueless about applying points to someone who wasn't staying there.

Let's be clear about this. The current SPG T&C, adopted around early March, make clear that any points-earning activity resets the clock. And Starwood Lurker has confirmed this as to Audience Rewards specifically:

So please, let's not kill any more electrons speculating on this topic. We have the answer, and it's a favorable one.

Starwood Luker's response was not definitive but rather an assumption that Audience Rewards would be classified as an "earning" activity. As I pointed out in another thread, *wood's T&Cs do in fact recognize categories of points that aren't classified as being earned. They don't specify what those are, so we're left to guess.
I'm not sure I would so easily dismiss two recent data points that Audience Rewards did not extend someone's expiration date.

I see one rather vague data point. A credit card pitch is meaningless; I get these scare-grams in connection with various programs from time to time, and they bear no relation to any actual expiry date. And Bluerunningsocks didn't provide much detail on why s/he thinks AR points didn't extend his/her points expiration, so one is left to speculate that either s/he misunderstood or spoke to a CSR who simply gave out bad info.
And we now have Lurker II's further confirmation immediately above.

All we have from Lurker II is a confirmation of Lurker I's post. Lurker I's post (which was in the form of a question) implied that he thought Audience Rewards "seems" like it meets the definition of earning points.
A real confirmation that Audience Rewards extends expiration dates would be a statement to the effect that "Audience Rewards points will extend your expiration date."
I don't know how Awardwallet bases it's exp date on, that was what I initially went off of, so contacted Starwood csr to check, who said points would expire 12 months from date of last stay, which was nearly a year ago. Though to be fair csr seemed vague and didn't seem to want to give me an exact expiry date, but did tell me about 6 month grace period (which I was already aware of). So it is possible I just got a clueless rep. Though, a simple way to check exp date within account would make things much easier.

Isn't the fall-back to send copies of the receipt to SPG to get the points posted by them? Yes, it would be nice if the property knew how to do this and do it right the first time, but if there is another route why not use it?

No guessing going forward.
Any.earned.Starpoints.keep.an.account.active.
Including those from Audience Rewards or any other method by which they are earned.
Is that definitive enough?

Also, note that Starwood reserves the right to shut down an account & forfeit points if it believes the member has "[a]cted in an inappropriate, fraudulent, abusive or hostile manner." (Section 10.2.b.iii.) I'd say that puts about 70% of FTers at risk.
Well no one told me you had to get the questions RIGHT at the Audience Rewards thing . I quit in embarrassment after getting the first two questions wrong .
