1. The lack of being able to take breakfast in the restaurant. I totally forgot that I had to take it in the lounge and was embarrassed when I was told it wasn't included in my rate. I went to the lounge to had the easily lowest quality breakfast of the bkk properties in bangkok. This slapped me in the face as even the 4 points breakfast blows away the wgs lounge breakfast.
2. The wifi is slow here. The Le Meridien is pretty fast and the 4 points is average but I have found it slow here at wgs since they installed it since my last visit.
3. location is still great and bts access is nice.
I'm heading to the st. regis for tonight but the above two points stand out to me. I do however want to say taht having a lounge is a real plus and it is appreciated here, which combined with it's location gives it props for me.
I agree about not being able to eat breakfast in the restaurant, but also think the lounge breakfast is pretty good.
I was forced to the Westin Grande Sukhumvit when the 4Pts didn't open as scheduled last year.
Despite my disaster with internet, (which despite being 8 months ago, seems still not to have been solved ) my stay was great, and the room(s) were as well.
Security is lacking as anyone can access the guest floors.
As for breakfast, I too, was quite upset with the simple breakfast which was the only option for Platinums to have for free....
HOWEVER here is my impression after several days.
Breakfast, although simple, with limited offerings, was more than I needed to start my day, and have a healthy, filling breakfast.
As each day passed, I was more and more comfortable and satisfied with the breakfast.
And, to top it off, the evening food offerings are much better than all but the Royal Orchid.
IMHO, despite the breakfast being the most meager of all Bangkok hotels, I would NOT make my decision on where I chose to stay based on this alone.

I agree with this and the fact it has the lounge to enjoy the rest of the day or at least when they have their presentations is a big plus. Although I do like the Le Meridien's Bamboo Chic drinks happy hour.

Meager? Pretty nice spread the times I've stayed there, both in the lounge and the downstairs restaurant.

Is there a bar/lounge open to the public on one of the higher floors?
A friend said he thought that there was one, and you get to it via one of the elevators. But he didn't think all of them went up to it.

If there is one, does anybody have any feedback?
Horizons Karaoke Lounge on the 25th floor. Nice views and atmosphere. You can stay in the public area where you, other guests, perhaps some of the staff will be singing. There are also private rooms in various sizes. I've been there several times and really enjoy it.
