No more hard copy receipt/folios under door - Starwood Corporate Policy?
This was what I was told when I checked-in to the Sheraton Harrisburg today. I would have to stand in line and check out at the end of my stay at the front desk to request a hard copy.
I did a quick search of FT (after confirming that Club Floor rooms were for sale after being told they had none available) and couldn't find an announcement of this. Perhaps I missed it and my search skill are poor - is this a new corporate policy? No hard copy folios to go along with no web access to print them?
Smart move. Who wants to pay the overhead to have employees running around putting paper under the door so that it can be schlepped home and either scanned in or tossed depending on the nature of the travel? I wouldn't stand in line for 10 seconds.

For my one stay so far in 2013, I found the hard copy under my door. I also checked out at the desk to get a hard copy of the final bill.
However, what I noticed that was new was that my folio just said "room revenue" with no breakdown of room rate and various taxes. In some situations, this could cause trouble for reimbursements.

I have gotten hard copies at several hotels but whenever possible request that it be e-mailed. Imagine how much paper is wasted with 1-3 pages for each room times hundreds of rooms times hundreds of nights. Then people call back to have it e-mailed because they lost the piece of paper. Sure there may be the occasion when for some reason a person may need a piece of paper but with each passing year, fewer and fewer people prefer paper to email for folios.
The Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit stopped providing hard copies under the door late last year. They are pretty good about emailing the folio (my preference since I usually don't have time to wait in line to get a hard copy) but there have been a few times that I didn't receive it. When I call to request it, they are usually able to send it before I even hang up.
I noticed Q4 of 2012 that upon checking in at various properties I was "informed" that a final copy of the bill would emailed to me. And like clockwork, I got it. Even at check out, it seems to be the "Green Choice" the front desk folks were striving for too.
Thus far, not too many hard copies under the door and when there has been one I look at it curiously at first before picking it up! LOL
