I will be 7 nights short of SPG75 - anything I can do?
I did my count, and I will finish 2012 with 68 nights. I could stretch it to 73 nights at most, trading off convenience for stays, but with Christmas coming, there is no way for me to go over 73.
Is there anything else I can do to be granted SPG75? Will SPG upgrade me that level if I am 7 nights short of it?
Since I will have 40 more nights in Jan/Feb alone, I was wondering if any of you have been successful at asking politely for SPG75... if it was a rolling year instead of a natural year, I would make it for sure in Jan.

Since award stays count toward your nights/stays, perhaps there is a category 1 or 2 Starwood property near your home that you can book as an award or cash + points award to reach the goal? Or you may find a cheap cash rate as another option. I could be wrong, but I believe Starwood doesn't typically make exceptions on number of nights or stays just to allow you to hit a certain elite level.

You can always ask but I think your chances are minimal. You can always book another room at the same property that you're staying at so you can get double night credit.

After reading how seldom these go through (it seems like even less than the suite nights which seems very odd and unfair if its requested months in advance) I won't be trying for 75. I'm within a handful now but am targeting my remaining stays this year to maintain status in other programs. Gaining those is of much more value than trying to get to 75 with SPG when there doesn't seem to be a serious commitement behind the your 24 policy.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you get an SNAs at 75 nights. Aside from the your 24 thing, the big draw for me is the extra bonus point per dollar you get.
A quick cost / benefit trade will tell you whether you should spend the points to get the 75 nights. For example, if you stay at a 4000 / nt spg property for 2 nights, you'd need to be spending $8000 next year to break even on that.

that depends on your travel patterns. In some cases the 24hr aspect can be very meaningful. The extra point per $ is like a 2% rebate to me. I'd value a guaranteed your 24 much more than the one extra point.

The extra point is guaranteed where the Your24 is not. In my experience I submitted several Your24's and got denied (all US hotels) my 1st non-US hotel approved the request 6 weeks out.

SPG75 was launched this year. No one has experience.
I would say if you want the benefit, you should do the 75 nights. Sounds like you'll only be 2 nights short if you put your heart into it. You've received some very good suggestions about booking multiple rooms. Go for it.

The biggest problem with AC is they don't have a loyalty program.
SPG is lenient on stay/night counts with recent changes to awards and multiple rooms. I doubt they will stretch it more by giving you 7 extra nights. I suggest some MR or book multiple rooms with points.
