Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, Malaysia [Master Thread]

Was in a cab this afternoon making my way to KL Sentral when I spotted from afar the very distinctive Aloft signage on a new building @ KL Sentral.
This will be on the other side of the station, opposite the Hilton/Meridien.

Starwood Hotels has a site for the property and their architects have posted some nice pictures of the pool and building.

Some nice pics from the Architects

Architect Designers Poole Associates

Must say, I am a big fan of Le Meridien and Westin but I would be curious enough to try this Aloft property. Same convenience as the Meridien, right off the KL Sentral stesen (station).

Looks very nice indeed.

Likely a Category 2 I'd say, however personally hoping it would be a Cat 1

I hope there is a proper covered walkway to Sentral. I am sure Starwood management understand the value.

Dont think Starwood has any control over matters like this, more for the owner of the property and the master developer of Sentral to consider.

Pricey

I assume only RACK rate is available so far as the price BAR is more expensive than Sheraton Imperial & Le Meridien (for the dates I have checked). So much for a mid-budget brand.

This property is part of a large development at Sentral including new shopping, condos, etc- it looks to me like it will all be connected (indoors) when complete.

Unless the rates are around the 200MYR mark, I think most folks would be staying elsewhere.

Nice to have another option in KL. But I'm not a big fan of the location... I'd rather stay at the Westin or Sheraton.

And I just did a dummy booking for a Fri-Mon stay in April, it's priced at 328MYR++.

You can easily get the Sheraton for around 400MYR. Even the Westin has prepaid rates around 450. Saves the hassle for a taxi public transport to go to the "center", around Bukit Bintang.

The pool deck looks nice on those rendered pics though.

Places of interests

Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park
Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park is a veritable secret paradise where butterflies actually dance nonchalantly in clumps of fern amidst scented beautiful flowers and flowering vines.

This is the largest butterfly garden in the world spanning over 80,000 sq ft of landscaped garden with over 5,000 live butterflies, exotic plants, butterfly-host plants and ferns. Other attractions are japanese koi fish, fresh water turtles, live insects and a museum with a large collection of butterflies and insects from around the world.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
Located in the serene and scenic Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, it is only 10 minutes drive away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. It is the home to more than 3,000 birds of approximately 200 species of local and foreign birds.

Sprawling approximately 20.9 acres of verdant valley terrain, the park is divided into 4 zones; Zone 1 and 2 make up the free-flight zone; Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 is where the birds are placed in separate cages and mini aviaries.

One of KL Bird Park's most extraordinary feature is that in Zone 1, 2 and 3, birds are let free in the aviary which closely resembles their natural habitat. With this free-flight concept, birds are able to breed naturally in this unique environment.

KL Bird Park is also reputed to be the largest walk-in free-flight aviary in the world.
