I've stayed at the Westin in Costa Mesa several times and it was great. Nothing special, just good stays. Why not head a little South and hit up the St. Regis Monarch Beach?
I stay at Costa Mesa quite a bit. It is fine. Not extraordinary, but it does what it is supposed to do (and what 99% of the Westins do)... clean neat luxury.
Not St. Regis luxury, not Ritz Carleton luxury, but it is great.

Westin Costa Mesa is a rip-off.
Rooms are outdated and dirty. TV channel selection is a joke.
I've been staying at the Sheraton Cerritos Mon-Thurs most weeks since October, and have found it a pretty nice experience. Rooms have been renovated fairly recently to the new Sheraton standard, beds are good, and the front desk staff is very nice to me (though as I've been there 6+ months now, YMMV). The hotel is also right across the street from a shopping center with a Trader Joe's, movie theater, several restaurants, Starbucks (there is one in the hotel as well), etc. Right off Hwy 91 so it is pretty convenient, depending on LA traffic...
Air NZ sticks their crews out there too, for their overnights, which I always found interesting...guess it's easier than having FAs show up to fly hungover after partying in downtown LA..?

I have stayed at all except the Sheraton Anaheim.
Sheraton Park: Only stayed here once, but like others, I would only recommend if you plan on visiting Disneyland as it is right there. Otherwise just another Sheraton. Club lounge offering were standard breads and juices, but everything seemed relatively fresh. Internet was waaaayyy slow (I was there for conference so usage likely higher).
Sheraton Grove: I liken it to a renovated 4P. Cheap and does the trick. Always upgraded to top floor room (not sure they have suites here). The lounge food was not worth eating to the point I chose the McDonald's down the way over the convenience of the lounge. Lot of free parking in neighboring area although can at times seem sketchy at night. I have had good success with BRGs here and often choose SG when in the Anaheim area due to value.
Westin South Coast: As mentioned above, it is a Westin that is more nice than great. Clean and good location (Tucked in business park, but also right next to S. Coast Mall). I think parking is quite unreasonable for the area (sorry forgot how much). Good airport shuttle which will occasionally drop you off somewhere else if somewhat along the way. I try not to stay here if I have a car, but if just visiting short term and flying through John Wayne airport, it is a solid option.
Sheraton Cerritos: A bit further from "OC" but my preferred choice when south of downtown LA area. Also located in business park area, but near a town center type mall. Lots of food nearby and stores to wander if you need to fill in a very slow day. Good Platinum recognition, good service, solid lounge and full breakfast on weekends (not sure how new bfast amenity might have changed this). Free parking. Very 'burbs so determine if that is a fit for you.

Although quite a few others found this property OK, I do agree with this. The stay I had there was about equivalent to a Four Points level room and service level. I haven't stayed there since (3 years) and stay regularly at the Hyatt down the street.
