Harrahs and Starwood

A friend of mine who is an exec at Harrah's told me that it was announced today that SPG members now earn Harrah's reward points for SPG stays.

2 points for every dollar spent was his info.

Does anyone know any more about this?

Nice!

Still need a property where I qualify for elite check-in lines and room upgrades like we did at the PH. Nowhere nice to stay in Vegas as SPG Plat. (...and no, the Westin doesn't count)

It appears this comes with a cost. The three properties I've checked, my SET # or AAA rate provides rates from $10-$30 per night less than the Harrah's Rate.

Reservations should be booked with SET# 393098. I doubt that it's really necessary to book through the official link, but it is necessary to book the Harrah's Rate with this SET code.

It's interesting to see Harrah's and Starwood partnering on something again. Harrah's bought the Planet Hollywood and pulled out of the Baha Mar project in the Bahamas. And there's a long (lost) history that Sheraton has with Caesars.

Any chance that Starwood and Harrah's will revive the ability to redeem Starpoints for rooms at Harrah's properties?

It's probably not necessary but since there's just over 500 participating properties, you are likely to receive quite a few messages that the rate is not available. At least using the official link allows you to use the drop down boxes to choose a participating property.

Has anyone noticed there's no mention of Stay/Night credit in the T&C's?

Why should there be? These T&Cs are about the promo offer. It doesn't remove any SPG benefits which are covered separately in the SPG T&Cs.

But they do mention:

# As an SPG member, a participant will earn 2 Starpoints for every eligible dollar spent — Gold and Platinum members will continue to earn their 50% bonus Starpoints — for up to three rooms that are paid for by the member provided the member stays in one of those rooms.
which is part of the SPG program. Or will we get double? Details are missing, good reason for concern.

Since there are only 595 SPG properties in the entire NA region, it appears that the vast majority are on the list.
