[CLOSED] Four Points Sheraton Bur Dubai [Master Thread]
Since my previous post asking about the Four Points Bur Dubai garnered no commentary, I thought I'd post a mini-report on my experiences having just returned.
Arrived on the early non-stop from JFK so was at the hotel by 8:00 a.m. the latest. Never thought in a million years the room would be ready but to my surprise they said they would have one ready in an hour (regular check -in was 3 p.m. I believe). So popped around the corner to Starbucks and came back to have my keys handed to me. Front desk mentioned that since I was Gold SPG they prepared the room early. I had just reserved a Classic Room and that is exactly what I got -- did not mention the word upgrade because they had clearly gone above and beyond getting me into a room.
The Classic Room was very nice. It was a good-size and had a rather larger bathroom with soaking tub. Bottled water was replenished daily and...FREE! The level of service at this hotel was amazing. You literally rang for something like towels or and iron and before you could hang up the phone it was there. Staff were always pleasant and hotel really well maintained.
In a city where the average hotel room is quite expensive, the Four Points is a hidden gem. Great location in Bur Dubai, just down the street from the Bur Jurman Center and tons of dining options in the immediate area.
Pool is small but got the job done. Dining options in the hotel are good as well. Main Cafe is a buffet which was quite good and had a grill special in the evenings. Antique Bazzar (Indian) retaurant is supposed to be one of the best but did not dine here. Viceroy Pub was nice for a drink and nibbles.
Got 4 p.m. check-out without any problem. On a side-note, upon arriving in the room the Concierge called to inquire as to why I had arrived by Taxi. He stated that their driver was waiting at the Airport with a sign to collect us but we never saw him or knew to expect this service. I suppose having entered the flight number and arrival information when I made the reservation must have given them this information. But, no worries as the cabs are cheap and plentiful.
I would higly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the region looking for good value and service.

I am not going to make a major complaint about this property, since I got there at 3:00am and only stayed for eight hours, didn't use the pool or dining facilities, and didn't have high expectations.
However, my room was amusing. As a Platinum, they gave me the "Executive Suite," which I think is the top-category room there. It was probably the strangest "upgrade" I have ever received. The suite begins with a huge door. Once inside, there is a perpendicluar hall, probably ten feet long, with one room on the left and one on the right. My key-card opened the door on the right; I didn't even have access to the one on the left. (I suppose I could have protested, but I didn't see the need.)
Inside the inner door was one of the smallest rooms I have ever seen (outside of somewhere like London or New York). There was a bed, with about enough room on each side to stand up, and a small circular coffee table and chair at the foot of it, which I had to essentially step over to get to the closet. There was no desk. (Internet was wireless, the kind where you have to call the front desk for access.)
I couldn't help but wonder if the "standard" room was any bigger, and they just created this executive suite to fill an awkward space at the end of the hall.
There was jack-hammering outside all night (I know, to be expected in Dubai), but the front desk and bellman service was above average.
And, as the OP mentioned, the price was good. One gets what one pays for, I suppose.

Four Points Sheraton Bur Dubai [Master Thread]
Just completed a one night stay here this past Thursday night. Have stayed here 3 times previously. Dubai has some nice 4 points IMO with this being still well above average for a 4 points but probably #3 on my list of 1-3 in Dubai. The location isn't great, but it is closer to the DXB airport than many spg options. The price was right 300 AED which is basically like $80 or about $100 a.i. as they have 20% taxes added.
I have always received free breakfast here and initially wasn't a plat, I think they include this with every reservation. In the restaurant buffet room for breakfast staff doesn't even ask what room ect. Thus these points lead me to believe it is included for all.
I was uprgraded to a corner deluxe room, which although not 2 different rooms as many suites, it had a separate room for closet and 2 sofa/chairs. My one complaint with the room was that one bank of windows relied solely on shutters to keep the light in. As someone who likes it pitch black this was bothersome to sleep in past sunrise.
Overall a good property to do a mattress run as I shifted from here to the Del Sondos Le Meridien.

Four Points Bur Dubai [Master Thread]
Stayed here 4 times in the last year. It is somewhat recently renovated and I think the rooms themselves are pretty good. Free breakfast I believe on just about every rate as the restaurant didn't even ask for room number etc. Good value as I got a rate of about 90 bucks a.i.

Unlike the other Four Point Sheratons in Dubai this hotel doesn't offer the Treat Cards benefit for Platinums (free snack eg sandwich, drink and fries). I find this odd as it's inconsistent with the other hotels FP hotels in the area.
Can anyone else confirm if they've experience the same. Thanks

after many many stays here, i found out during check-in earlier today that this property only has one suite....got an upgrade to a grande room....they have given me the exact same room on the 5th floor the last 5-6 times i have stayed here....they say its the largest non-suite room they have....in all fairness, the room is huge....

I personally do not like the whole Dubai-mega-resort-eat-the-same-food-you-can-eat-at-home. I like stinky, smelly, crowded Dubai. Therefore, this property is great. Great dining in either direction within a 100m radius, yes, way above the level of a 4points, turndown service (on the club/preferred floor). I never ate here so I cannot comment on that.
Is the Metro station 100m to the right of the entrance done yet?

I have to lay over in Dubai twice in February. On the first one I don't care because I will just sleep and leave, but on the way back I will have about 6-7 hours to look around - have not been to Dubai since 2001. Which SPG property will make it easy to do some sightseeing in such a short window? Basically I want to see the things that were added since I was there. I was there for over three weeks last time but I know a great deal has changed.
I was looking at full service for the lounge but if 4 points will give me B-fast it may not matter. Location I think is more important.
Thanks!

For the long stay, you've probably seen bur/old Dubai in 2001, so I'd rule this property out. Jumeriah is pretty isolated, but if you want to see the ridiculousness and un-Arabness that is Dubai, I'd give that a quick walk. Palms is worth checking out, and of course, the Burj Kalifkha.
4 points "downtown" (located weirdly by some freeway) would be my choice for this. You're in the south where all the new stuff has been happening. Taxis are cheap, and you'd be 5-15 minutes from everything new.
The Westin beach resort is also close to Palms and Jumeriah, and that would be neat if you want the resort thing, but kind of counter productive if you want to get out and do stuff .
I don't know about the location of the other properties, so I'd get more opinions on this.
