Everyone has made helpful suggestions, thank you. We will be staying with starpoints and probably book a suite if we can or a room with 2 Queens if available(we area lowly gold).

The W for teens and two rooms are needed?

The two Westin properties are a much better fit for a family.

In addition, the OP requested a "lounge" which means that they'll have to consider the VA properties.

The W doesn't work for this request.

I agree. W would not fit the requirements. Any of the the Westins would be better, especially the Arlington Gateway and Alexandria during the week when the lounges are open.

You will not get any lounge access being a Gold so I don't know what you were originally thinking. In any event, I would still sugest the Sheraton Guest Suites Alexandria since a suite is the type of room that you say you will need and you can get one using your Starpoints without the need for the extra points that obtaining a suite upgrade would entail at any of the other properties.

We finally bought our airline tickets, and I have 2 room reservations. One is for the Westin Grand in a standard room. The other is for the Fairfax in a deluxe suite(the teens can sleep in the sofabed in the living room). I am using points and only gold. I'm leaning toward the Fairfax because although we won't be in the room that much, when we are there it will be nice to have the extra space, and it's the closest to the Metro. Any other thoughts?

Tried to book a club room at Sheraton Crytal City but rooms with 2 doubles are sold out. I liked the idea of saving money on breakfast. But I think I like the idea of being right downtown better anyway!

!
The Fairfax is, IMO the way to go here. It's where I put my mother and sister up when they visit. Lots of inexpensive options for breakfast nearby (including a starbucks <1 block away).

Doesn't sound like my experience last week. I was upgraded to a Wow Suite - and it was huge.
