Starwood finally getting on the Friends and Family Discount Train?

@StarwoodBuzz just posted on Twitter :

Look what we found! Friends and Family rates at resorts and hotels in Arizona. http://tinyurl.com/yllbd2j

I have tried the code at other properties, with no luck, however I wonder if they will finally implement this after seeing the success of ICHG and particularly (and the original), Fairmont. A great way to fill empty rooms, while giving individual hotels the ability to block whenever they want based on capacity.

They tweeted this over the summer:
Friends and Family rates in Fla, Caribbean and SE: rate plan SUNDEL book by July 15

Gosh - this would be very useful since I am going to PHX in a few days. However; none of the dates I put in would come up with this rate. Thanks for posting OP!

Played around a very little bit and found lower rates WITHOUT using this discount

Isn't that often the case? Stick a discount code out there that's not the cheapest rate, but make people think it's a great deal, and hope they'll book it (many will)? Many businesses have made a fortune doing things like that.

From the Terms and Conditions:

"Must show valid Arizona ID at time of check-in."

Do they really check for that?

Doesn't matter. Be prepared to show it and be prepared for a higher rate if you don't have it.

Well, as it turns out, this should not be in there, so I don't expect it will be a problem.

Like the SPG 50% vouchers which in 80% of the time give you a higher price than other rates.
