Best in Y *A EU-Calfornia for a "Husky" Guy
I'm buying one of my best friends a trip to come visit for the holidays. He's average height, just has some beer, saucisson & fromage weight on him.
Right now prices are pretty even to get him from Lyon to the West Coast on LH A380 & A340 / LX 777 & A340.
He's familiar with flying Y between Australia and Europe, but I just want to make it the best option I can for the 12h in Y when he comes to see me.

12 hours in Y for one of your best friends? I'd hate to be on your bad side!

In my opinion, yes. The A380 is possibly better in the air, but transfer in MUC is easier than FRA. Arriving in Y in the US on a smaller plane (assuming no GE or other queue-skipping facility) is also an advantage IMHO.

Thanks for the input. He actually changed his mind and wants to come for Christmas which puts the *A flights 25-30% more than KLM/AF so I'm looking at those...or I can make him take WOW which is $350 cheaper.

UA in E+ is clearly superior in terms of seat (if you avoid the 747). There's an upcharge unless you are A UA elite but it's much less than PE and is IMHO very much worth it.
