* Gold Status - Extra check-in luggage benefit
I just saw this morning on Brussels Airlines website, that starting from Feb 1, the *G "one extra checked bag" privilege will be taken off the menu for the lowest economy booking class "Check&Go":
http://www.brusselsairlines.com/en-b...e/default.aspx
Is that compatible to the *A rules? On the *A website they have yet to update the advertisement:
Extra Baggage Allowance
As a Gold Status holder you can choose not to travel light. We allow an additional 20 kg (44 pounds) where the weight concept applies, or one additional piece of luggage where the piece concept applies.

NZ has Seat Only fares on their short haul routes that allow no bags even for *G. They have been doing this for years. It's sad to see another carrier doing the same.
Sometime ago they added the following small print to *A website:
3. This benefit may only be available if travelling on two or more Star Alliance member airlines on a single ticket. Please contact the Star Alliance member airline with whom you will check-in with for further details.

A similar situation exists on OneWorld, where BA offer HBO fares - and even their own elites are not allowed a bag on these, let alone across the Alliance.
Of the European *A airlines, A3 offers 'GoLight' fares which do not normally include a bag, but all *G members are given the extra allowance.

Miles & More members with Frequent Traveller status and Star Alliance Gold members who book the Geneva Economy Light fare are allowed to check in one bag weighing up to 23 kg free of charge.
