Which First Class do you recommend (UA, LH, Swiss)?

I am planning on taking a trip to Europe in a few months. I will probably be taking UA F class to Europe, but I have the option Of UA, LH, or Swiss on the way back. Which do you recommend? All are about the same price, around $5k.

Plane options
UA: 747, 777, 757, 767
LH: 747-400, 340
Swiss: 330

Avoid UA for the reasons we all know.

Swiss A330 has the new F seats, they are great.

LH747-400 is also great. (See the other active thread about F choices in this forum) LH A3x0 still has too many old configurations around. In General less privacy, more traffic during the flight.

I agree with Unterwegs's assessment. If combining LH and LX, I would choose LH 747-400 on the eastbound flight (overnight with a seat and a separate bed) and LX 333 on the way back to the US. No new First on LX 343.

Avoid UA, go for LH and LX as others have said.

Don't consider UA. Lufthansa & SWISS are outstanding.

I am a little surprised by your comment, I definitely would prefer LH's 744 both ways.

LX 333 on the way back to the US means OP would miss out the chance to try LH FCT or FCL at FRA or MUC. While LX FCL at ZRH is nice, it is still a notch below LH FCT or FCL.

The only thing I have to add is, that since LX F is essentially unavailable for awards (except for SEN and HON), if I had the chance, I might choose it over LH just for the rarity of the experience, even acknowledging the loss of FCT access.

Or have the best of both worlds and depart FRA-ZRH or MUC-ZRH in the morning and then fly back to the USA from ZRH in the evening. As long as the first class portion is on the same day, passenger is welcome to go check out MUC FCL or FRA FCT.

While I agree that the ZRH FCL is subpar compared to the FRA FCT, I think it's better (due it part to be quieter with smaller, broken up rooms instead of one large area) than the FRA FCL's. Also, transiting ZRH is much more enjoyable than doing so in FRA.

Well the FRA transit is pretty sweet when it's all done via Mercedes or Porsche

LH and LX F are fairly comparable, although I'd vote for LH because of the separate bed & seat, and their excellent FCT/FCL at FRA & MUC. If the OP cares for caviar, LH serves it but not LX.

Of course, avoid UA at all cost!

Which first class in LH is better: 747-400 witch separate seat and bed or 747 800 new introducing? I preferred 747 400 ( now it fly fra eze)but on this route in jan 2015 there is 747 800. I could change destination for holydays if 747 400 is more atractive...

I think the seat and bed combo on the 744 is overrated though many people seem to like it. It's great for a night flight but not a day flight.

Bear in mind that LH is phasing out F on the 747-400 during the coming year. The seats on the upper deck of the 747-400 may be sold as business seats (for a supplement) with business class service.

For the best F experience on LH I would choose a route served by the A380.

I don't believe that's true. On both of my last LH FC trips on the 747-400, the service director has taken the time to advise that FC will be moving to the nose and that the UD will become biz. They will not be phasing out F on the 747-400, per what I've been advised twice.
