TPAC business class: ANA, Air Canada, EVA, or Asiana?

Which of these do you prefer, and why? Seat, service, food, lounges...

NYC to ICN, but potentially other destinations as well.

Direct is always easier than transiting so Asiana with their very fine product is an easy choice there. If you do one transfer ANA is the next best choice for all the criteria you listed.

No Quadra Smartium from NYC yet IIRC, right? If so, their set is by far the most inferior out of the four (though of course the soft product is great).

ANA would be my choice personally.

So, what differentiates ANA from EVA and Air Canada?

(EVA would mean backtracking from TPE to ICN, which is one disadvantage, but I'm also interested in a trip to southeast Asia, for which a connection in TPE would be fine.)

EVA seat looks great, but if you read One Mile At A Time, the report on the food was iffy. No personal experience.

ANA I loved for the very private C seat and great food.

AC seats are the older trad'l herringbone style. Plus, you have a short cross-border flight in regular domestic F.

The new aircraft has the OZ suites in F and QS in J.

Maybe that has something to do with why J award availability JFK-ICN has been non-existant for next May-June. Although, oddly enough, there's plenty of availability ICN-JFK

You need to check their award blackout schedule.

It looks like the US - ICN is blacked out May 16 to July 6 2014

Snic - curious to see what you decided and how it went. I realize this thread is a bit old.

I ask simply because I was debating similar decisions. Albeit - my itin's a bit different (flying from DEN). Currently booked on OZ SFO-ICN and back on ANA's NRT-SJC.

Ended up with ANA JFK-NRT and BR TPE-LAX. This is for next year, so it will be quite some time before I can tell you how it went!

Sounds good and here's to a great trip!

Been reading good things about EVA. Tried routing TPE-LAX on the way back but their arrivals are late enough to mean a layover or PHX silliness before getting home to DEN. I'm gonna stick w/ OZ and ANA. Plus, both ANA flights are Dreamliners [PEK-NRT / NRT-SJC]. This is in 3 weeks, gonna be in China during Golden Week. Cheers.....

Sounds great. Let us know how the BR, OZ and ANA flights are!
