DEN to PPT
Has anyone flown this route lately? I am trying to book a tix with miles and I am wondering if Air New Zealand is the only airline in the *A that flies this route.

PPT-AKL Friday, Feb. 19
Air Tahiti operated by Air New Zealand
total prize: 631 USD
Ya I did it on Orbitz and got a direct from LAX to PPT... It is under a code share w/ Tahiti Air. I am wondering if I will earn miles or be able to use miles on this if I am a 1k with UA.

As stated above, NZ is the only *A airline which flies to PPT.
For this purpose it doesn´t matter whether NZ has a codeshare agreement with Air Tahiti on the LAX-PPT route, as the flight is operated by Air Tahiti.
If you´re using UA miles for your redemption you MIGHT be able to fly to HNL on UA and then fly to PPT on Hawaiian Airlines.
Hawaiian Airlines is one of UA´s non-*A partners and you can earn UA miles when flying on some Hawaiian Airlines operated inter-island flights provided you flew to HNL on UA metal, but you´ll have to look into the detail yourself.
AFAIK UA doesn´t have any agreements with Air Tahiti, so no earning / redeeming UA miles when flying Air Tahiti.
We (Mrs DUF, mirco DUF and myself) successfully used M&M miles last year to fly to PPT on NZ in business class. So it can be done.
The schedule is a bit crazy and it is a very tough flight for the FAs as they are required to do a turn-around in PPT.
Try to get the Sunday flight if possible. It is the day flight leaving AKL on Sunday 10am getting to PPT on Saturday 4pm (cross the date line); and come back on Sat 5pm and arrive at AKL on Sunday 10:30pm (again cross the deadline).
The Friday night flight is bad because it leaves AKL on Friday 6:30pm and arrive at PPT at 1am Friday; and coming back on at Fri 3am from PPT and arrive at AKL at Sat 7am. I have tried this flight (from AKL to PPT only) and the FAs always complained that this flight is very tiring and ruins their sleep.

Unfortunately the only award seats we could find were on the Friday flight. Saturday would have been so much better.

Good luck with your planning!
I'm pretty sure it's correct that you can use UA miles to fly Hawaiian to PPT, though I don't think Hawaiian flies to PPT on a daily basis. Could be that it's even just once a week.
By the way, the international carrier folks are discussing here is actually Air Tahiti Nui, not Air Tahiti. Air Tahiti is a separate airline that just flies domestically within FP.
