Lisbon - Dining al fresco with a sea view this Monday

Hi,

Do you have any recommendations for a restaurant by the sea, either in Lisbon or surroundings where we could have a nice lunch, ideally sitting outside? It should be warm enough this Monday!

For the sea, rather than estuary, you might think of shifting out of the city. Estoril/Cascais would be the easiest (30-minutes or so on the train). Then the choice is yours, depending on your taste and your budget. Tamariz (Estoril) and a bunch of beachside snack bars and restaurants in Cascais operate at the budget mid-price range, or you could splurge on the Albatross in Cascais. Baia do Peixe is kinda nice mid-range seafood in a position overlooking the town and bay.

But you could just walk round Cascais to chose.

If you have transport - or want to use a taxi - and want to escape the urban area, there are a number of restaurants, reasonable to expensive, folksy to smart, on the short drive out on the coast road to Guincho from Cascais. Furnas do Guincho is one of the smart ones, but there are many more.

If you are happy with estuary views (the river is VERY wide!) then Belem (train, bus, tram) could be a good choice. Lots of top tourism sites to see there, and a number of restaurants by the docks/marina as well as loads of cheaper options not quite on the water's edge. You can stock up on custrad tarts (pasteis de nata - much nicer than the translation) from the "original" bakery nearby.
