9hr overnight connection at Madrid / MAD T4 - options?

Hi,

I have a flight lhr-mad-pmi, with a 9hr overnight layover in madrid in the middle. Can anyone tell me what my options are?

Is there a transit hotel (we're also in J right the way through I believe)

Otherwise, which hotel is easiest to get to from T4? Will be travelling with young kids.

Thanks

Tony

Here, let me Google that for you <link>.

Ah, that reveals as the first non-ad page link This page has a list of hotels with complimentary shuttle service near Terminal 4.

As a mod you should know better than that.

You've posted referral links. The properties referred to are not the closest ones to the terminals (as my google research as shown) but presumably ones that give a kick back to the site originator.

My more extensive research has so far shown:

1) there's nothing in, or connected to, the terminal
2) The Hilton is very highly regarded
3) The Novotel & Pullman are onto of a subway station which is 1 or 2 stops to the terminals, and just a few minutes away.

I haven't actually overnighted at MAD, so I merely thought of finding a listing of hotels and three of them are within a mile or kilometer, if memory serves - and they offer shuttle services. With the name of the hotel, Google would certainly reveal which. You actually gave few specifications and little indication you had looked already; my apologies for appearing unhelpful to you.

As this is more about MAD / Barajas International Airport hotels and less about Iberia I will move your thread to the proper Forum; it may expose your question to more members as well.

Just FYI: The cost of a metro ride to/from the airport is now 5€ per person, so you're looking at 10€ per person for anyone 5 and up for a return trip. I've never stayed at/near the airport, so I can't recommend anything.

OK, we stayed at the Novotel and it was more than fine for the 7hrs or so we were in the place. Can't comment on any of the facilities mind you (although I can tell you that minibar items are EUR4, except water which is EUR3)

Shuttle bus took about 30 mins from T4 as we went via every other terminal and the Ibis. Check in took 1 minute

On the way back, the shuttle was a bit faster (15-20 mins) as they know where you're going so we stopped at the Ibis, one other terminal then T4.

Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Place is utterly remote mind you - stuck in the middle of a huge exhibition complex.

They give kids a second room a 50% off and this is done automatically via the website, so we paid a total of EUR109.50 for the two rooms (which were interconnecting). And to round it off, Quidco have given me 12% cashback.

I'm sure the Hilton is very nice, but at half the price for somewhere we were simply going to sleep in, so long as there's a lock on the door and clean sheets then I'll go for the cheaper option!

*Hilton had a special offer rate of EUR110 a night, which didn't allow the usual hilton 50% off for kids.
