This is came in from Employee news release from WN will be introducing service for BOS-MDW/BWI. It will have 5 daily both MDW & BWI, too. So here you can read the link by a.net source:
Nice scoop! Apparently I've been "asleep at the switch" today, not having noticed that the Boston City Information Page (older format) has been available since at least 16:16:31 on 13-Apr-2009 (over nine hours before your post!).
Both the interactive route map and the static route map, however, are apparently holding out for the official release, as neither yet shows BOS as a WN destination.
The disappointing part of this news is that with the timing of it coinciding with the next schedule extension window, it totally eliminates the opportunity for a scheduling geek to go over the published schedules with a fine-tooth comb to find dates on which aircraft utilization drops for mysterious reasons...thereby allowing advance predictions of new service that will be announced several weeks or more into the current schedule!
On a hunch, I went to southwest.com and looked at the pdf schedules. There's not a link for BOS, but every other city has pdf schedules that extend out to 10/30/2009. So I looked at MDW and BWI for 09/08/2009 through 10/30/2009 and the times of the BOS flights were listed.
If I have a RR award that expires in June, can I still use it to book a ticket from BUR-BOS in September or do I need to travel by the expiration date?
And I'm assuming that this new schedule means that BOS tickets are available for reward bookings?
You need to travel by the expiration date, but the award ticket can be extended for another year for $50. And yes, you can now book award travel to BOS.
Damnit WN! Well, AA, UA, and B6 go to ORD. DL and FL to BWI; DL, US and AA to DCA; and B6 and UA to IAD. WN is just entering an already vulnerable market. Maybe DL will need to step up and trade in the CRJ's for M88's to BWI and DCA to compete with WN - first class and more PAX.

What market (that they already serve) do you suggest they enter that is not already flown by another carrier out of BOS?
Does anyone know details about inaugural flight
events, or is anyone planning to fly on the first flight out of BOS?
I've already booked the 1st AM flight into BOS / LGA, but haven't decided on return flights yet. Leaving the 1st flight of the day Monday may miss some activities later in the morning.
I'd expect a similar opening in both locations to what was done in MSP:
Sunday:
1st flight early AM from MDW-MSP gave out tour and coupon books for Mall of America. It looked like they had t-shirts etc too but those weren't given away in time for the first flight out.
Coming from MSP, the 1st flight early AM to MDW had Wifi and was flown by a special father-and-son crew. MSP had commemorative cookies, coffee, and chap-stick there.
Monday AM (in MSP)
This is where more corporate presence was noted. Free laptop cases, more cookies, free massages, laminated bag tags. CEO Gary Kelly made an appearance for a press release/grand opening ceremony Monday late morning.

Well as far as BWI goes, looks like DL will be stepping out rather than stepping up. Effective 09/09/2009 no more DL BOS-BWI flights.
