Changing a business booking - possible problems?
I am a CP holder with my girlfriend as my companion. She is traveling for work and her company booked her ticket. She has already made a change to the itin online through the WN site. Here is the question...
If she cancels her trip and uses the funds to book a ticket in my name so we can both travel will her employer be notified? Is there a way for the employer to track how the funds were used by confirmation number or some other manner?
If there is any way this could come back to bite her we will likely ditch the idea, but this could come in handy in the future.
They probably will find out you canceled the trip. Unlike the 'change air reservation' tool, the 'cancel reservation' tool does not allow you to specify a new email for the notification. So when you cancel it, an email will be sent to the address of whoever first made the reservation.
If the company made the original booking on SWABIZ, the travel manager will have complete history of what transpired with the PNR.
Assuming the fares are identical, what you propose would be cost neutral to your girlfriend's company; HOWEVER, it could be considered misuse or inappropriate use of company funds and I would be very hesitant to do this absent approval of her immediate supervisor or travel manager. If she works for a company big enough to centrally handle travel bookings/have a travel manager, they probably have written travel policies and this could very well violate such policies.

Thanks for the replies! I likely will not even bother with it because as you say although it would be cost neutral it likely would look suspicious. Too bad
The booking was made through a TA (Global?) but as I mentioned she has already made a change online so I figured it wasn't through SWABIZ although I don't know. Figured someone on FT has tried to work the system in their favor by now

Similar question, though less aggressive. For you from me: similar advice now as I gave then. DO ask the company for approval; DON'T do something sneaky behind their back.
