I hope they get this rolling soon, though, cause right now it looks like I will have to book a flight on AA for spring break [STL-NYC].
This won't be rolling in time for you. Bolding mine:

What are the chances that LGA is NOT next, afterall?
...after MSP. Could another new city blow right past New York? (And I don't mean BOS!) I mean, New York being New York and all. There are probably destinations that Southwest could move into like a hot knife through butter, and then there's New York.
Due to today's crosscurrents, we have several Highly Placed Henrys on here now who might be in a position to channel Mr. Montgomery.
What are the chances? (Not of channeling Mr. Montgomery, curbcrusher...)
I could have sworn that I saw an SWA aircraft parked at the Marine Air Terminal gates in LGA yesterday evening. I was on Frontier 511, departing about an hour late due to strong winds. I was seated on the right side of the aircraft, at about 6:30PM, as we inched along the taxiway for a northerly takeoff on the north/south runday. I looked across and saw what appeared to be a Southwest tail with the brown/tan background and white "SOUTHWEST" lettering, sticking up across the runway (the Marine Air terminal). Was I imagining things? Are their other airlines with similar tails that operate out of LGA?

Ha! That explains it then... there were other aircraft blocking the view of it's torso... err... fuselage... otherwise I agree, it would have been hard to miss.
Anyone care to venture a guess at when the first LGA flights will come about. I know it was released that they may figure things out by March, but if that is the case, what is the earliest the flights could begin. I'm planning a mid-April trip and was hoping it could work out. I'm guessing this would be a long-shot.
Southwest plans flights to N.Y.'s LaGuardia this summer

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Southwest Airlines could begin flights to New York City's LaGuardia Airport as early as June, Chief Executive Gary Kelly said Wednesday. [...]
Chris McGinnis: [...] She won't tell me which airline she flew to New York yesterday, but I know that the next time she comes, she's gonna be flying on Southwest when their service starts in, hopefully...
Rutherford: Hopefully mid-to-late June.
McGinnis: June. Alright. Hope so.

FWIW I saw one parked at EWR Terminal A or B (can't remember which) a few weeks ago. I'm guessing a charter.

It's Official
A judge just approved the gate takeover at LaGuardia for Southwest. SWA is hoping to start service there as soon as this summer. Announcement will be made shortly.
[...] "Of course, things at LaGuardia are changing very rapidly. We're in touch with the Port Authority [of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport] and with the FAA on that whole mix. I think we would like to find a way to acquire more slots," Montgomery said.
"The FAA slot rules are being reconsidered, so there's a lack of clarity of what the FAA is going to do," he said.
LaGuardia Airport officials have agreed to lease Gate B2 in the airport's Terminal B, with some assurances that Southwest will be able to secure more space as it needs it, he said. [...]
This is just the beginning!
