Southwest Airlines announces new service including BWI-Aluquerque & LAS-Birmingham

And the winners are:

Southwest Airlines today announces several new nonstop flights beginning Dec. 10, 2000. The new service includes:
-- One new daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Baltimore/Washington
and Albuquerque
-- One new daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Las Vegas and
Birmingham
-- One added daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Albuquerque and San
Diego (for a total of four)
-- One added daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Nashville and
Manchester (for a total of two)
-- One added daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Nashville and San
Diego (for a total of two)
-- One added daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Baltimore/Washington
and Raleigh-Durham (for a total of five)
-- One added daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Las Vegas and
Oakland (for a total of nine)
-- One added daily roundtrip nonstop flight between Ontario and Oakland
(for a total of 13)


``At Southwest, we value our Customers and add service depending on where we see the most traffic,'' said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's vice president of marketing. ``The addition of these new nonstops will enable our Customers to travel throughout the country in a whole new way.''

To kick off the new service, Southwest is offering Customers a $99 fare each way between Baltimore/Washington and Albuquerque and between Las Vegas and Birmingham. These special fares are available only on the new nonstop flights.

Tickets must be purchased at least seven days before departure and within one day of making reservations. The fares require roundtrip travel and an overnight stay (any night). Tickets must be purchased by Dec. 10, 2000, and Customers must travel between Dec. 10, 2000 and Jan. 19, 2001. Seats are limited and will not be available on some flights that operate during peak travel times. Tickets are nonrefundable, but unused tickets may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares do not include airport taxes of up to $6 roundtrip or federal excise taxes of up to $2.75 per segment. (A segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing.)
Customers who book their travel via the Internet can subscribe to Southwest's Click 'n Save e-mail updates. The weekly updates deliver the airline's latest fare sale information right to the Customer's e-mail ``in'' box. For more information, visit www.southwest.com/email.
