What would you like to see changed in Southwest.com??
I was wondering what pearls of wisdom we can provide WN for changes in their WEB site? Here are mine to start:
1. Let MySouthwest members add a 15-20 character description to a reserv. and put it on the My Itineraries page(s). ie. Joe's Xmas trip As I may make reserv. for my mother, wife, etc. - I can know which is which at a glance AND if I print future trips page, get it all together.
2. Fix the "Future Travel" - "Upcoming Travel" page so flights do NOT show up under car/hotel rental heading.
3. (not major) Show last 12 mo. credits earned on Account Snapshot page so one can see how they stand toward Comp. Pass eligibility.
1. on the upcoming travel screen, distingish between YOUR reservations, CP reservations, and reservations made for others while logged in - either by name of pax or a short descriptive title you're allowed to put in
2. either allow the 12 months credit display, or just add an option to list how many credits you need to earn/renew the CP and by when, per the phone menu
3. an "add a CP reservation" feature that links off of any existing reservation you've made for yourself - idea is after to make yours (or view an existing), you could just click one button and take care of the CP in one fell swoop.
4. (not just online, but related) - allow for CP reservations to be made after the expriration of the current CP, especially if you've already reached enough credits to re-up but haven't been able to redesignate.
be able to log in to MySouthwest and check in online with the confirmation no. prepop
I'd like an easier way to checkin online - (I know it's just cut/paste the Confirmation Number before click on "Online Checkin" after logging in to mySouthwest / Rapid Rewards) but:
log in to MySouthwest
Click on "online checkin" under the itinerary in the "My Upcoming Flights" section
and have the Confirmation Number and my Name prepopulated so can click on check in automatically
this is only a problem for some who aren't familiar with the system, so you have to copy the confirmation number prior to clicking on "Online Checkin" and pasting the confirmation /record locator in.
so this would be a nice enhancement - click on Online Checkin and have the fields automatically populated to check in...
At some point in the booking process, show the flight duration, layover duration, and "thru" city stops. There is probably not enough room to show all of this info on the flight selection screen (maybe click on or hover over a flight to see more details, or maybe show on the next screen).
With flights departing at x:40 a.m. and landing at y:25 p.m. a few time zones away, it can be difficult to figure out each flight option in your head. It'd be helpful to know that, for say, DTW-SMF, routing A is 6 hours long and routing B is 9 hours long.
And if I know I'll be checking luggage, say an outfit to attend a wedding the next day, I might be more likely to choose the 2-hour BNA layover (or a multi-stop "thru" flight) rather than a 45-minute MDW connection, to make sure my luggage arrives with me that evening.
I'd like to be able to print receipts for my future and past flights from the MySouthwest account. It would help out with my expense reports so I don't have to track down the email.
On the "select flights" reservations page there's a drop down box for departure time and departure date. The departure time drop down allows you to select all of the options but the departure date drop down only gives a seven day window - 3 before and 3 after your selected date.
If you want to check a different date outside that seven day window for the same routing, you have to go back to the "plan trip" page, so it would be helpful if that departure date drop down covered the entire open schedule (I realize they might have to have two drop downs, one for month, one for date).

Some Great suggestions. On the drop down menu for the departure date: If you are only a few days off, go to first or last date and click, then it shows the next 3 days from that.
LUV Lurker: See good ideas in here. This is a great Web site for customer input.
Maybe you can get WN to award 5 RR credits for the best 3 submittals.
How about having a WAP version of "Southwest.com" that can be used on cell phones and PDA's?
It would be great to browse the schedule and purchase tickets using such a feature. I know I could always call reservations, but I like to see what my options are instead of have someone read them to me over the phone.
I really like the ability to “log in” to southwest.com. But the login link seems to appear and disappear at different times. It should also be much more salient (and consistent – it’s completely different on the Rapid Rewards page than on the Reservations page). And many times I find myself having to re-login during the same browser session.
For example:
1. Go to http://www.southwest.com and click on Reservations.
2. Click on Login and enter your information.
3. You’re taken to “My Account” (Account Snapshot) screen, which is fine.
4. Now click “Rapid Rewards” at the top.
5. You have to log in again!!
The Login link (or, when logged in, my login status, e.g. “Traveler: My Name [Account Management]”) should be in the banner of every screen, including the Home Page. As it is, you never really know when you're logged in or not. It's never clear how to get back to “My Account” from other parts of the web site (why is it buried under Rapid Rewards?).
I'd like to see "My Southwest" as another top-level link in the blue banner, i.e. on par with Reservations, Schedules, Special Offers, Travel Center, etc. Let "Rapid Rewards" lead only to general information about the program. Put all of *MY* stuff under "My Southwest".
I like the fact that I can put my credit card on file, and not have to type it in every time.
But there are a couple of things that the system does not remember from reservation-to-reservation. Specifically, it does not remember my choice for “Send Confirmation via…” (I prefer fax) and “Let them know you are on your way…” (for each of my “frequent trips”, I always send to the same people). I have to type these in every time. These should be part of my profile, so I don’t have to type them in each time.
Quite often, I will have to re-enter my Company ID, even though I’ve entered it once already, and it appears on the URL.
For example, try this:
1. Go to http://www.swabiz.com/cgi-bin/buildI...2?cid=99495782
- enter your own Company ID, of course.
- note that my company ID is on the URL, so it knows about it
2. Click on Travel Center in the upper-right
3. Click on Reservations
Note that it has lost my company ID, and I must re-enter it. Seems like the company ID should be saved in the session, or preserved on the URL when navigating to other links.
When booking a flight using a companion pass, especially when “logged in”, I should be able to enter MY confirmation number, and literally nothing else. After all, my companion has to be on the same flight as me, and it already knows my companion's name.
Today, after I make the flight for myself, I have to do the same exact manual search-for-flights for my companion, even though he/she has to be on the same flight as me. It would save time and reduce errors if I could just enter MY confirmation number. Or better yet, have a link somewhere – say, in my list of upcoming filghts – that says “add companion”.
In case that's not clear, today when I make a reservation for myself, and then I want to make the same exact reservation for my companion, I have to search for the flight all over again when making theirs.
