The big WN $49 and up winter sale is on
Lots of $49 fares just showed up for short hauls so this looks like the start of the big winter sale for travel December through mid February excluding holidays. Details will be out soon but it's probably similar to the previous distance based sales (72 hour sale ending Thursday, no Friday/Sunday travel, etc.)

I think you're right, 73G. Just 4 days after I booked the Jan and Feb dates at $58. I guess I'll cancel and rebook at $49...

Good lord I hope this isn't their big winter sale. Prices are way higher than the sale last year, from SEA anyway. Last year I was able to pick up some SEA-ONT for $49, and SEA-LAS for $69. Now they are $93 and $99. The sale last week had SEA-LAS for $89, and several times over the summer for $79.
AS hasn't matched yet, so maybe when they do, or go lower then it will get better.

I'm not sure if they did a winter sale last year, if they did we missed it.

will there be another sale like the Anniversary sale between now and March?
I noticed that during the Summer there was a gap from approximately mid June through August 26 where no sale fares were offered. Are we looking at another such gap between mid February and June?

My niece just snagged a $303.80 round trip total from Dallas to LaGuardia on November 25th and return on December 3rd.
Her friend are traveling on other airlines and they are paying like double than what she just paid for on Southwest.

But... those dates are outside the WN sale, so I'm not sure how it's relevant here?
