Yes, indeed. Seeing Wanna Get Away fares between SAT and HOU for $40 each way between August 23 and November 16. Fridays and Sundays excluded from the $40 fares.

Trying to book a $40 fare as points online; Oops! 2,400 changes to 5,940. Estimated wait time on the "Rapid Rewards expedited" option: 32 minutes. Urgh.

Its too bad that you won't be able to book any of this sale using points online. I have about 20 things I could book and 100,000 points to burn. But the website is broke.

Now do I want to spend 3 hours booking 20 flights that I might or might not fly?

Just rebooked 3 very expensive flights and added three others. Thanks!

Making good use of the insane hold time, I just re-fared a couple itineraries and earned back $52. Probably wouldn't have even checked had I not been stuck on the phone.

Southwest is offering no sale for Chicago, but Airtran is offering $80 fares.

I read this and immediately jumped over to SW's site thinking that couldn't possible be true, but you are right - Chicago is completely excluded (both coming and going) from the sale. Thanks so much SW

Yes!! As soon as I received their e-mail, I booked 2 returns BUF-LAS for $551! Only downside is that there are no reward flights for the dates I need.

Y'all might want to check your Chicago flights again. I'm seeing $40 to STL and $80 to HOU, for example, even though Chicago is not on SWA's list of sale fares.

As always:
  • Be careful (1): fares on non-sale dates tend to be unusually high during these sales;
  • Be careful (2): in some markets the fare is lower sans sale, e.g., $69 SAT-DEN during most of July and August becomes $80 during the sale;
  • There tend to be great hidden city opportunities with these distance-based sales.
A market where I previously had trouble with points purchases pricing correctly looks OK today, and nsx reported a successful low-price points booking on the Oops thread, so maybe that issues has finally been fixed.

Zero Chicago flights included in this sale! What's up with THAT?!

Very very unhappy while I watch everyone else nab awesome fares.

Wish the sale fares didn't start two months from now...
