I've had great success getting bonus points to post with Alamo for about a year now. But lately my points have been missing and I get too busy to try and track stuff down. No one wants to take accountability when points are missing, so I usually just give up. I'll keep signing up for these things, but recent Alamo, Dollar and Thrifty "bonus" points have not shown up. And yes, I am booking correctly with the right codes and making sure my RR# is on the reservation and invoice when I return the car. FRUSTRATING!!
But if you're doing 5+ days, the Avis 5x offer may be better. (See the Q4 master car rental promos thread in the MilesBuzz forum for the rundown on all the car rental promos with all airlines including Southwest, and all car rental companies including Alamo and Avis.)

Then it would be foolish to use that offer, assuming you don't otherwise need a mid-size for three days, or something after 15-November. Use this generic RR offer instead:

Anybody renting for 2+ days might also want to look at the variants of 1-2-Free that are out there. National and Hertz both have one going (not sure about Avis).
Depends on whether you need standalone one-day car rentals more than you need more FF miles/credits... I tend to do the 1-2-Free promos since I'm already pretty long on miles/credits and hotel points.

Although generally I agree with you - by default I always look at the economy class - oddly enough for my rental in TUS later this month the 'standard' car costs less than the 'economy' car at Alamo. I believe 'standard' is above 'misdize', so I'm hoping for 4x RR credits. But of course, if there's a 4x offer out there that works, it would sure be silly to use a 3x offer with the same T&C.
