Hertz triple credit offer good thru Dec. 31, 2009-2 day min. rental.

I just bought a ticket and received this offer from Hertz. The question I have, when did the SWA CDP # change? It used to be 205418. Here is the offer.

Hertz Year End Sale

The new CDP comes up as "SOUTHWEST FT WEB" where the old one was "SOUTHWEST FF DISCOUNT #". The RR Promotions page still has the old CDP (205418) listed, though.

Looking for deal on 3 day weekend rental at MDW-Chicago

I'm flying into Midway Thursday evening. I'm looking for a 3 day weekend rental. Last week I rented a Nissan Murano (midsize SUV, very nice car) from Hertz via Hotwire.com for $120 total with taxes and fees. That deal isn't available this week. Alamo.com has a midsize car, G6 or similar, car for $103 including taxes and fees. I found this through the Hot Deals section of Alamo.com.

RR points would be nice but low price is my primary goal. Mid-size or larger vehicle is important.

Any other deals out there?

Thanks,
safu

Alamo - Triple Credit, 3 Days+, through 9/30/09

Received an e-mail today from WN RR with the following Alamo promo:

As a Rapid Rewards Member, you can receive triple credit on any rental of three days or longer. In addition, receive up to 25% off on every rental. All car classes included. For triple credit, you will receive one and a half credit per qualifying rental instead of the standard 0.5 credit. This offer is valid in the United States and Canada through September 30, 2009.

For reservations, book online at southwest.com. When booking, enter 7014861 in the Corporate ID/Rate field to receive triple credit and earn up to 25% off of your rental. Be sure to provide your Rapid Rewards account number at the time of reservation or at time of rental to receive your credits.

T's & C's:
Discount applies to base rate only. Up to 25% discount applies to participating North American locations. Taxes, other governmentally-authorized or imposed surcharges (including GST/VAT), license and concession recoupment fees, airport and airport facility fees, fuel, additional driver fee, one-way rental charge and optional items (such as CDW up to US $30 per day) are extra. In the US, check your insurance and/or credit card for rental vehicle coverage. Renter must meet standard age, driver and credit requirements. 24-hour advance reservation required. Not valid with any other discount or promotional rate, except your member discount. Availability is limited. Subject to change without notice. Blackout dates may apply. Void where prohibited. Must provide Rapid Rewards account number at the time of reservation. A Frequent Flyer Service Charge of $2.00 per rental may apply. This service charge is being collected by Alamo to offset the administrative and program costs associated with participation in Frequent Flyer programs. All Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards rules and regulations apply. Allow 6-8 weeks for credits to post to your account. Offer is subject to vehicle availability. Any changes to the reservation may disqualify member from promotion.

I've used this on my last few rentals, just fine. However, for a DEN rental this week, the rate for a mid-size comes up at almost $200 per day instead of $50. The old # and the double credit offer won't work either, so not sure if it's something to do with DEN.

Positive Alamo Experience

Rented @ Alamo, in LAS 7/1-7/7. Booked a midsize, with the 3x mileage bonus. Rebooked a ton of times to drop the fare. Got to the midsize line, they were out. Told us to grab a fullsize, right off the bat.

So here I am 7/11, not seeing any RR credits posting to my account. Go and look at the receipt. No RR account number listed.

Call CS and explain the problem. She looks up the rental, sees my account with the RR# listed, and fixes the problem within 90 seconds. I ask her if she can see how many credits will post. She says "No, but I see a bonus of some sort listed. They will post in 4-6 weeks, but should be quicker. "

18 hours later, 1.5 RR credits posted to my account.

Moral of the story: It's all about how they fix the screw-up, not the screw-up itself.

FYI - just used the Hertz promo listed above @ SAN - got the $400 per week ridiculous price when I used the weekly corporate and promo codes, but got the proper discount when I entered the daily rate codes. Try both, if you're getting rates way out of line with what's expected. (yes, I realize the weekly benefit is better, but getting something is better than nothing if the weekly code won't work!)

Apparently not for A-listers only. I'm not A-list but got the 4X credit anyway. Started by booking the car with the weekend rate ($20/day), then modified the reservation to put in the 4X contract ID. Later, re-modified the reservation to add a $20 off coupon code, and it all went thru without a snag. I love triple-dipping! 2 RR credits posted to my account within 24 hours of return of car. Alamo's been very impressive lately with the speed of posting credits.

I've had this problem with every Alamo rental since they rolled out the kiosks. I always put my RR number in and it appears on the contract along with the FF fee. When I return the car the receipt doesn't reflect the fee and I don't receive the miles unless I call CS. Last time I called I actually tried to get it resolved with the Quicksilver department and got dumped into VRU limbo. The good news is I never pay the fee and I get the miles within 24 hours of calling.

The rep told me it was a known glitch on their end.

If you go direct to alamo.com, hit the "See all Alamo rental car specials" link, it then lists a link "Weekends starting at $20 a day". That link takes you to another page where you look in the fine print at the bottom to see if your location is in the list of participating locations. If so, hit the "reserve your car now" button and proceed. Even if your location isn't in the list, give it a try, you never know. Reno's not in the list but I got the rate there for Labor Day weekend.

My typical algorithm is to get the $20/day car, then go back and modify the reservation later to put in the SWA contract ID most favorable to my situation. I had trouble once trying to do both at the same time. And, of course, where applicable I also apply the free "$20 off a 4-day rental" from the American Casino Guide at http://www.americancasinoguide.com/alamo.pdf.

From Dollar Email

You can't help but smile when you take advantage of this double credit offer! Now through December 15, 2009, you can receive double Rapid Rewards credit (1 credit vs. the standard 0.5 credit per rental) on rentals of any car type picked up on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and rented for 2 days or longer at participating locations.
