I'm betting such a short extension is related to the new flight planning / reservation system / Amadeus. SW is rolling out it out in phases. Flight planning, bookings, then day to day. I think one big piece of it is cutting over before next summer and another is cutting over after the summer. I bet we'll continue to see weird schedule release irregularities until this is finished.

For this massive extension... (2 weeks) the only new routes I noticed are IND / PIT - MSY. Both are Sunday only service and start in March.
Sunday only is odd for Southwest, usually it is daily or Saturday only. I bet we will see more dynamic schedules with the new system. Also looks like the Dec extension will use it.

From the most recent investor conference call:
That fits nicely with the schedule extensions. I suspect they were originally targeting an earlier date and have now pushed out the schedule a couple of weeks due to delays and May 8th is not the new target for going live with the new system.

Anyone know of any material changes we should look out for starting in December?
I am particularly curious if the $100 TTF extension may disappear; as I recall the current international system does not support that?
