I haven't looked at the schedules released today, but it will be a while before the next release. From the Travel Tools page:
On November 1, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through June 2, 2017. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

Am I Mistaken or is that an exceptionally long window?

Ugh. They really gutted the SEA-LAS route.

With the Southwest blog having been replaced by the Community, Bill Owen's write-up appears here.

I wonder if the longer than usual wait means that the new system will start to go live with that update?

June 2 just became May 8. A whopping 2 week schedule extension.

?!

We are currently accepting air reservations through April 24, 2017. On November 1, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through May 8, 2017. This date is subject to change. Please check back frequently.

I saw this, as well on their website. I hope this is a typo, but doubt it, as the new dates were posted a couple of weeks ago.

I'm betting such a short extension is related to the new flight planning / reservation system / Amadeus. SW is rolling out it out in phases. Flight planning, bookings, then day to day. I think one big piece of it is cutting over before next summer and another is cutting over after the summer. I bet we'll continue to see weird schedule release irregularities until this is finished.

For this massive extension... (2 weeks) the only new routes I noticed are IND / PIT - MSY. Both are Sunday only service and start in March.

Sunday only is odd for Southwest, usually it is daily or Saturday only. I bet we will see more dynamic schedules with the new system. Also looks like the Dec extension will use it.

From the most recent investor conference call:

* New reservation system (customer facing) Dec 2016
* New reservation system (back office conversion) May 2017
That fits nicely with the schedule extensions. I suspect they were originally targeting an earlier date and have now pushed out the schedule a couple of weeks due to delays and May 8th is not the new target for going live with the new system.

In related news, expect massive IT meltdowns in December and May...

Anyone know of any material changes we should look out for starting in December?

I am particularly curious if the $100 TTF extension may disappear; as I recall the current international system does not support that?

Thank you! I don't know why I couldn't see it.
