(Nevermind you could buy LAX-PHX-CMH for $136 on AA with 6:15 travel time, or LAX-CMH nonstop for $154 and 4:15 travel time )

Unrelated: The wonderful WN app crashed twice while I was looking that up.
For a truly insane routing, check out BUR-MHT on 8/22 -- 5 stops (although with one plane change): BUR-PHX-AUS, AUS-HOU-MSY-MDW-MHT. 14:10 total travel time. Buy it today for $222!

I've found a handful of this type of routing BUR to the east coast.

I can beat that: BHM-SFO on 12/22. 14 hours and 30 minutes travel time. One question I have is what happens when you check in at T-24 in BHM - that's 3:30 AM CA time. This ends with a nearly 4-hour layover in BUR then a 1hr20m flight to SFO. I bet you'd get boarding position A-16 since you'd be checking in earlier than T-36 for the last flight, before EB and A-List positions are reserved. A-List positions would be reserved at 4:40 AM for the last segment and you could check in at 3:30!

Here are a couple other good ones:
8/25: PWM-BWI-RDU-DEN-SLC, SLC-PHX-BUR 5 stops, 15:15 total travel time!
8/25: MEM-DAL-SJC-LAX-PHX, PHX-BUR "Only" 4 stops and 13:45 total travel time, but I like that you come all the way to LAX, then backtrack to PHX to get into BUR to save a 45 min drive.

I never even considered that there could be an itinerary so long that checking in at T-24 would put you ahead of the T-36 automatic assignments!

I'll bet there are days that LAX-PHX-BUR/SNA/ONT are viable with LA traffic!

With the three stops, you'd have a great chance at the infinite legroom seat! You'd probably get a few glares too.

Your T-24 is 3:30 AM CA time, and T-36 for BUR-SFO is 4:40 AM. But if someone is flying XXX-BUR-SFO, their T-36 might be before 3:30 AM so wouldn't they get a better boarding position than you if they have EBCI or A-List?

Anyone want to book a refundable fare for that routing, see what you get at T-24, then cancel?

I believe the T-36 is done by flight, not passenger. The system probably runs a script at T-36 before each flight and looks at the manifest to assign boarding positions to EBCI/A-List.

I only used EBCI once but had a late A position on a connecting flight. If it was done by passenger it would have probably been earlier in the A's.

I found out about this flight a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. The timing is great too (11:30 AM PST to 7:55 PM EST).

What about the farthest distance you can fly without getting off the airplane. ?
Years ago, I remember flying from PVD-Nashville-PHX-LAX-SMF. That...was a long day. Flight got cancelled thru MDW and they routed me that way. Amazed me that my luggage somehow managed to get there...

My personal record was missing a nonstop MDW-LAS and ending up standby all the way on MDW-MCI-OKC-DAL-HOU-LAS

Back in 2002 I think I flew SMF-BUR-PHX-BHM-JAX. Stayed on the whole time. It was awful. I may be incorrect about the existence of the BHM stop, but it was still awful.
