WN picked up 5 ex-Transaero 737-700
Southwest Airlines picked up 5 ex-Transaero 737-700s to the new homes. After they cease operations in a few weeks ago.

I flew on some UN 737s earlier in the year on VKO-TLV-VKO. They had a surprisingly large seat pitch and I remember that their Wifi was even worse than WN's as it was one of the very few times that I was willing to pay the access fee but I couldn't even get to a portal page.

Why they banned Transaero? But why? They didn't have enough financial? Because of this, they've losing a lots of money. They cannot afford of it.

That's not really the point. My point is I'm wondering how well these aircraft were maintained because a) they were a Russian company and b) didn't exactly have the funds to maintain them properly.

Speaking purely from cosmetic point of view the UN 737s I flew looked okay in and out. On the other hand the UN 777s I was on looked horrible on the inside as if they had had no upkeep at all since they were delivered.

That's hardly surprising according to PlaneSpotters Southwest has put 25 737-700s acquired from a variety of sources in service this year. They have 6 more including a couple from Transaero listed as "in storage" which I assume means they are being reconfigured.

Some of UN's 737s were delivered just weeks before their collapse, I wonder if those were the ones that WN picked up.
EDIT: Sorry, those were 738s. Which makes me wonder where those are going. http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.ph...95&item=129419

The Russian government banned them from operating precisely because they do not have enough money to operate in safe manner. They are bankrupt.

The engines are actually CFM. Regardless, I hope both Boeing and CFG inspect the hell out of these planes. Perhaps Opnlguy can comment, but I'm wondering what the inspection process is when acquiring aircraft from countries that don't exactly have trustworthy, robust aviation regulatory processes.
