Exactly. "Higher" and "lower" also could signify a better or worse boarding order.

I assume "above" means a higher number?

Why does your boss tell you your work is below par when its good to be below par in golf?

Above argument pretty petty...

A 32

I have noticed my boarding position getting higher and higher, on all flights, not just heavy business routes. (A 32, A 30 , A 29)

I am A-List Preferred and have been for a while.

Not a positive trend for us loyal A-List Preferred flyers.

As the year goes by and more people achieve status your number may get higher. At the beginning of the year when people who did not renew are dropped the numbers should go down.

May not be positive, but happens every year.

I understand this concept but you would like to think that a existing A Lister would get boarding number preference before a newbie if the world was fair...

That all depends. No one knows the formula WN uses, but I doubt length of time someone has been A-List probably factors in much. It's probably a combination of how many flights flown in the last year, last three months, how much money you've spent in the last year and three months, and the fare you're flying on for that particular flight. If a newbie beats you using that formula, oh well.

My guess is that it's mostly based on year to date Tier Qualifying Points. I consistently make A-list Preferred at less than 15000 TQP's, which puts me at the end of A-List Preferred all year.

Which is directly related to how much money you spend.

If that were the case, you'd notice that your boarding position would creep to a higher number as the year went on, and not jump 15 spots all at once.

Now what we need to know is how many people are in the A1-15 or 30 group. For example, if there's no one and therefore the first person to board is A31 then we know it's a glitch.

The A31 position would NEVER be the first to board, unless A16-30 simply never show up... which would never happen.
